Dying Light: Retouched Update Releasing June 26 - All Versions (besides Switch) Getting Subtle Enhancements

I re installed dying light pc litteraly yesterday just out of the blue. Didn't even know about this update lol 😄 I hope they give an option to tone down the camera sway, it gives me motion sickness🫨

Looks like you can edit some file to turn head bob off.

In any case, never played game but always hear people rave about it.

Please tell me it's not Dead Island (i.e. entirely dependent on co-op to be enjoyable).

I actually liked Dead Island more...but everyone's reasons why DL is better is valid.

Yeah I'm on pc thanks I'll look into it. The game is a massive step up from dead island. But is still a 10 year old game.

Shame no switch update but I guess what can they really improve as it's a solid port already
yeah, i find it kinda shitty, when they could have at least done a Switch 2 upgrade or something at least. Hate it when devs treat a different set of paying customers like "eh, fuck those people"

No the game is very single player focused.

The gameplay doesn't feel older compared to the recent first person action rpg we had like avowed tbh, only the graphic show the age of the game.

it´s currently 1440p on PS5, at 60fps, but the muhfucking fov is gay

Best zombie game of all time

Of ALL TIME

Atmosphere is crazy good and the soundtrack is amazing. Parkour is arguibly the best of any game to this day. Story is B movie, but good B movie.

I'm glad that they are updating it. Will play through it again.

Still had in in the backlog so yeah, nice for them to still be putting out updates.

Great game but honestly I have played it too many times at this point. I know all of it. I'll wait for Beast

I got it on sale for less than $5 a while ago using the ps app gift card reward thing, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Ok, I guess I have to be the one to go against the grain:
I hope it's possible to reject this update and stay on the legacy version.

Dying Light is one of a handful of games that I have played across multiple PC builds over the years and I appreciate how it's scaled across various CPU and GPU upgrades. To suddenly make a bunch of changes that will undoubtedly impact performance bothers me tremendously.

I know on Steam you have the option of downloading a manifest from an older version and then overwrite the new version with those files to get back to an older build, but that's a pain to do and means in the future should they patch it again (even if it's just some tiny hotfix for this new update) then it will need to be overwritten again.

Casual people who don't even launch these old games in years always like these kinds of updates, but for people like me who have continued running them throughout that period, they're just a hassle and disruption. It's the same for games that are heavily modded and very old, like GTA, where you have things set in a certain way with expectations of how it's configured, then the studio goes and puts out some small update after years and shatters everything about your install.

At the very least, give us a beta branch with the old version so Steam can handle the reversion by itself.

The Techland slander in this thread is straight up weapons grade levels of retarded. Do you guys have any idea how much support this dev has given this game over the years? How many other games from 2 gens ago get this level of support, DLC, and upgrades? Your entitlement is off the charts.

THE UPDATE IS NOW LIVE

Downloading on Xbox right now, 4.1GB.
Can you confirm the current version number on Xbox after the update?
I had to reinstall from disc and it wouldn't let me install digitally from the store for some reason. There was no indication of any update. The disc install proceeded normally.

Err..not seeing much difference compared to the previous version here, thought it was gonna be a native PS5 game with 4k60 visuals.

They clarified what it is and isn't.

Let's be clear: Enhancements, not Remaster!

Back in January, when we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Dying Light, I announced that we are working on a new update for the original Dying Light. Ten years later and the game that started it all is still going strong! When I looked online the day after the video, my heart skipped a beat. Quite a few of you were expecting a full remaster of some sort.

So, let's set the record straight: the Retouched Update is about squeezing out even more from the Dying Light you already love. It's not a complete overhaul or remaster.

Again, not really a remaster but it's more like increasing the graphical settings one pre-set on a PC.

Draw distance is increased, lighting looks different in some areas and the same in others, a notable increase in bump mapping on ground textures etc.

I liked the game a couple years ago.

Redownloading now for a second playthrough to see how it holds up, with the update.

A little PSA for those playing this game for the first time on console (PS5/Series X).

The game DEFAULTS to the 1080p/60 fps performance mode, go to the settings and change it to Balanced. It's an extremely good 1440p/60.

Been playing this over the weekend.

I appreciate the gritty look, compared to DL 2 which had a lot more overgrown vegetation, etc.

The lighting is also very stark here, which gives it a very unique visual identity.

Series X - Balanced mode.

Having completed the main story and DLC I remember nothing but the annoying yellow filter and terrible aliasing even on the Xbox Series X.

Yeah, the aliasing is the only visual thing I would have asked to put more work in.

FSR2 or something would have been nice.
