Wait what's the deal with XL coming out so soon after 5? Is there a reason to own both? I thought XL was the same game with extras.

DW5: added a boatload of new characters, beefed up the animation, got rid of most of the environmental draw-in and character pop-up, has by far and away the best image quality of the series. Each of the 50+ characters has a unique 4-6 mission story and ending. Specialized single bodyguards replace the generic multiple bodyguards.

Nah, XL titles are quasi-expansions to the original games. You'll actually need a copy of the original to 'hotswap' the new in with the old.

im still about halfway through clearing every wu char in DW5 proper so i wont be playing XL for a while, but its on my get it as soon as possible list.

I haven't played 5 yet. Spent a fair bit of time with 3 and 4, though. Good games, but I have to say I liked the book better.

edit: Strange, after posting this I went into the living room and ended up playing multiplayer Musou in DW4.

Fucking Xbox DW5. I get my Japanese voices so the characters sound the way they're supposed to (Guan Yu FUCK YEAH) and they bust the fucking analog control. I get 8-way control only. I was playing some Zhuge Liang today and every time I'd do his Musou and try to home it in on Meng Huo I'd miss because I'd flip from 0 degrees to 45 degrees and back ARGH. They just had to screw it up.

DW5XL had better have the JP voices in. Gimme DW5 Empires!

I am cry. Last night I tripped over my damn controller cord. It flung my ps2 out on the entertainment center and bought it down on.... DW4. *sob* its got a huge dent in it now and I dont think it will play. My Xtreme warr is ok, but I'd never play it without story mode. Now I have to get 5 and I'm broke. guess im lucky the ps2 survived

I recently sold my xbox and Ive been wanting to play something similar to that game, someone told me the Dynasty Warriors series are pretty similar to KUF, is this true?

Combat-wise, yes, it is somewhat similar but KUF has a pretty strategic unit system (like a 3rd person RTS, mainly because you control the commander, but you also control positioning)

The DW series is more like one lone commander (with a CPU controlled bodyguard) going off and killing hundreds of soldiers by yourself.

In KUF where you can call your team-mates or use special power from your different units (Sappers have traps, Archers have Direct Shot, etc) DW doesn't really have anything like it. The only thing that would really matter is where you go during the course of the battle as it unfolds. For the most part you will be fighting the normal army units and just crushing them, but as you fight commanders and whatnot it can get tougher. Also, if you kill a commander of a unit in DW, the unit does not scatter/die quickly like KUF, you still have to clean up (or run).

I thought I'd burned out on DW5 but I've recently been playing it again, got a pretty decent number of the 4th weapons now, but I cannot get anymore Superior/S bodyguards, what's up with that?

This is probably my most played DW so far and I've played a heck of a lot out of the other ones.
