...and it's absolutely incredible. The word "epic" doesn't even begin to describe this stuff.

CD Baby has 2-minute samples for all the tracks here:

http://cdbaby.com/cd/esposthumus3

If you can only listen to one, check out "Oraanu Pi" - it's like the spiritual successor to "Nara".

Sounds incredible but seems pretty pricey even for the mp3 download from CD Baby. And the album doesn't even show up when you do a normal search on the website either. Weird.

SWEET, I love ES and all stuff like this (i know its not specifically used for trailers, but im a huuuuge fan of epic trailer like music)

Pompeii by him is just fantastic

cant wait to check this out, thanks for the info

I don't even know if the CD is supposed to be available today - it was never given a proper release date. Kind of a weird situation, really.

Anyway, I'm ordering it in a few hours once I get home. I wonder if it's on iTunes...

I don't see it on iTunes yet. Amazon also has the first album available as an mp3 download, so unless it comes on iTunes as an iTunes Plus album I'd prefer to buy it either at Amazon or CD Baby if I'm going to do a download version instead of buying the actual CD.

damn, I've been checking for its release every day since the start of last December, and I learn about its release on GAF. :lol

EDIT: oh gawd, I hate the first CD, the second is fantastic though.

Oh wow. I'm extraordinarily happy you posted this thread. I've been following the release for sometime now and it didn't really come out of nowhere. It's been a work in progress for a long time with tentative release dates pending since 2006. It was never given a set release date but a spokesperson from Wigshop records made a statement saying it would be released on the first week of January. Looks like it just got delayed by a week =) and I'm glad it was just a week since this 2 disc album is PHENOMENAL.

So I guess the way it works is a little different. All of the songs are new songs. The first disc contains songs featuring a singer called Luna Sans. It is sung in a fictional foreign language that envisions the language from the natives of the island Numa. These tracks are all great, but don't quite hit the spot for me. On the second CD they've taken the tracks and replaced the vocals with instrumental solos and choir melodies, and this is where it really takes off. These tracks are the ones where the name is followed by "Pi". In my opinion these are the real songs and should probably be placed on the first CD although I can see what they are going for with this story telling idea and the new language. Sounding very similar to 'Unearthed', the songs here are awe inspiring, heart racing, and dream inducing. Quite incredible really, and anyone who is a fan of orchestrated music, or just good instrumental music owes it to themselves to check this out. The samples on the site really don't do it justice, although you can hear some better samples of their first CD and a short sample of the new one at their site www.esposthumus.com

Anyways that's all *goes back to jamming* :D

listening over the samples.... i'm gonna toss the first cd and just keep the 2nd

oh god

too bad there isn't a pompeii kind of song on this cd but oh well.... Mosane Pi = sex

not every song is remixed... there's one song Ashielf Pi, which doesn't seem to be on the first cd at all

Fuck, I've been waiting for this forever. It was supposed to come out like 2 years ago. Thanks for the heads up.

You mean by them :). And by they I mean the two brother behind it.

oh right, I forgot to include that there are two extra songs in the instrumental CD that are not included in the vocal (first) CD. Ashielf Pi and Odenall Pi.

All in all I couldn't be happier with this release, I'm just not too hot on the vocal tracks but maybe they will grow on me. The instrumental mixes just seem so much more powerful comparatively.

Okay, I just heard the whole album.

Holy fucking shit.

"Oraanu" may quite possibly be one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. That's probably a kneejerk impression, but it's still amazing.

Wow, off a whim, I took your advice, and although I'm a bit drunk, this song is fucking amazing, andd sooooooo layered and beautiful.

Cant wait to get this album. great stuff.

You guys made me so excited to hear this album. I've never heard of this band before.

But oh boy is this just not the right music for me. Every song, every song, sounds PERFECT for a movie trailer or Civilization (the PC game). And that is just not my bag, baby.

Not saying this is AWFUL, by any means, I just can't see myself listening to this regularly at all.

I just listened to some of the samples, couldn't wait. I'm a big fan of Unearthed since quite a long time ago and I've got to say that the second CD is where its at.

The first CD seems to have a different tone, which is quite good, and I'll definatly give it more time whenever I get the album - but the 2nd cd is just hits me a lot quicker. Can't wait.

Cartographer is really starting to grow on me, especially some of the vocal tracks which I'm liking more now that they've settled in. Over all I think there are just a couple of tracks that are a little too slow for me, but the rest is pure brilliance.

do want. thanks for that update Stench. the only other similar CDs that i know exists for public consumption are Epicon & Ars Arcana.

Both can be obtained from CD Baby as well... but then again I think I'm preaching to the choir :)

Thanks for those recommendations, I'm going to check those out. Oh and the Hans Zimmer Batman Begins sound track is pretty amazing if you can find it.

WHAAAT? After years of hoping that they'll release a 2nd album, I almost lose hope. I can't believe they finally released it. Yay!!!

So now that I've had a few days to mull over it, I'm pretty sure that "Cartographer" is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. I think I listened to it almost 3 times on Thursday, and up until now, I have never listened to an album more than twice in the same day before. It's that fucking good.

Also, "Cartographer" and the PS3's "Planet" music visualizer were practically made for each other:

Words fail me.

I just ordered both E.S. Posthumus albums from CD Baby and can't help but post the shipping confirmation e-mail I got from them...

Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make
sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that money
can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Saturday, January 19th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh...

Awesome. :lol

I agree. I've been listening to it daily since release. Hopefully it won't grow old, Unearthed hasn't but I don't listen to that one quite as much. Luna Sans has totally grown on me. She has to be some kind of woman to match up (and compliment) the huge sound of E.S. Posthumus. Some of these songs actually work much better with her, and others benefit more from the added instrumentals. I can't listen to Mosane without the vocals, heh. The only complaint, if I have one, is that there are probably just a few too many slow songs here. I would have loved to have at least another song or two featuring all that drum banging and thunder found on Unearthed, but I know this is a different kind of album. :D

Holy crap, I haven't listened to Post humus since college. I'm definitely checkin this out.

Wow, DRM free albums with free-redownloads and LAME encoded VBR MP3s?

Okay, the pricing isn't magic, but that still didn't stop me from buying it. :lol

Official site has been updated with a Cartographer section:

http://esposthumus.com/cartographer/cartographer.html

here you can hear much better samples of the music than offered on the CDbaby side for anyone sitting on the fence. Just select Luna Sans vocals or Piri Reis instrumentals and you can play a sample or move ahead.

Oh yeah, and this is an mp3 of Posthumus Zone, the NFL theme. I'm not quite sure if it's the entire song or if it just keeps looping but this is the one that they use on CBS. Quite epic for football.

This new album is awful, so all tracks so mellow..no energy at all unlike in Unearthed. Made me sleepier after hearing each track.

Just plain boring.

Re-listened to the entire thing, out of 28 tacks only 5 are worth listening to. Jesus, what a disaster of an album.

omg! I just downloaded this album it's insane! From the first track it just kicks so much ass!

EDIT: oh my bad im bumped the topic about the older album.. searched for it on google
oh well check out the album anyway :P
