Why does Nintendo have to react?

Why does the Vita being the same price as the 3DS "the nail in the coffin."


We don't even know the battery life yet. What if it gets 20 minutes of battery? What if it has 10 minute load times?

It certainly isn't the nail in the coffin, but the 3DS does not currently have a pricing advantage over the NGP, which clearly has more features.

Nintendo's software is important for sure, but affordability has always been one of their big advantages for portables. I'm not saying the 3DS will die but it certainly will not dominate at it's current price point if the Vita one is true.
