E3 2011 Sony Conference Thread [Over]

Some 'fans' are trying too hard. Sony's conference was leagues better, don't even try to compare please, it's embarrassing for you.
 
It was an okay conference. I could have used more PS3 titles but maybe there'd be more at showfloors.

It was better than MS' showing though.

Sony: C+
Microsoft: F-
 
As a handheld whore the price alone made this one an A, besides Sony fucking us Europeans the price is mint. :)

The fuck at only like 2 3rd parties being announced?

I wouldn't count on a 3DS Lite launch, but people are generally seeming to forget that Nintendo can be much more aggressive with the 3DS' price than Sony can be with the Vita price.
 
Why did i stay up to 4am for this? Im not a handheld guy so the Vita stuff didn't really interest me. Was waiting for something interesting at the end but i only got some drums and a dj.. going to sleep.

decent enough conference, felt flat a couple of times but overall pretty exciting, but you have to wonder what happened if they revealed Starhawk at the end of the conference, instead of a month ago, out of the blue to add insult to injury.
 
Anyone want to take a stab at guessing what drugs Ken Levine took before going on stage? WTF was that all about? he was fucking babling and almost seemed like was being paid to say something nice about Move..it was really fucking akward. I know the guy is an odd ball, but fuck he must of took eithier too much or he mixed some shit and it fucked him up.
 
Conference was OK.

The good:

- realtime demos (less recorded crap, less CGI aside from God of War and Sly Cooper)
- better pace than MS
- showed mostly games, unlike MS
- Star Trek, even if it has nothing to do with the star trek universe (grenades? c'mon)
- OK self-deprecating humour/in-jokes, even from the robots like Tretton
- Vita price is win. Nintendo will need to drop. Vita screen is gorgeous.

The crap:
- nothing really that new or shocking
- late
- cloud saves aren't new
- awful touch/motion controls on Vita games shown
- montage had lame gimmicks from rear touch screen, still looks more like console-handeld
- Vita third party support looks lacklustre thus far. Winning on price is one thing, winning on support is what you need to do to be a relevant handheld. Vita is an awful name.

Basically, much better than MS' conference... but anything is better than MS' conference. The ball is in Nintendo's court now.

Did anyone really expect to see the Last Guardian here? We know it's coming out next year and I'm sure it will be shown at TGS.
 
All I'll say is that I can't wait for the day 3G, social features, cloud saving, cross-system saving, touch screens, etc all become such completely standard features (and IMO they should be by now)... because when that day happens, we'll only have one more thing to talk about.

Fucking games.
 
Vita is gonna make the 3DS look very bad because its the same price, but looks and feels like a next gen handheld where the 3DS looks and feels like a DS w/3D to the casual Best Buy consumer.

Sony you did amazing, just destroyed MS's embarrassment fest 2011. A.
 
Ehh...it was better than MS but only by default and not by much. really not too exciting. will pick up ico/sotc hd and uc3 this fall, so thats nice.

I'm kind of puzzled as to what the difference was. Both focused a bit on core gamers and a bit on motion gaming.

Sony's was better based on the Vita information, but that's about it.

Both were shooters galore.

Yeah, the future is the PS4. Next E3 will will see the PS4 and it will launch next fall. JMHO but I think this show points to that.
 
that was a decent press conference, but nothing to really sell me on either system.

save money for PC, save money for PC, save money for PC.

How do you figure any of this?

90% of the shit Sony showed was exclusive and the rest was multiplats with exclusive content.
 
Gaming Overload! Outside of the Playstation TV and Glasses thing it was all about the games. No dog and pony show here folks, just games games games. It made for a somewhat boring conference but at least there was tons of content.

Uncharted looks amazing (both of them!).
Good to see the Team Ico collection on tap for September!
Dust 514 being PS3 is a mini megaton, imo although it's a very ambitious project.
PSVita is a silly sounding name but I will forgive them and get used to it!
$249/$299 is a great price for that feature set.
Cole in SF X Tekken was cool and it was great to see Mr. Capcom (Yoshinori?) up there.
Did I see a Vanillaware title in the Vita reel? It sure looked like it!

Ya. I'm guessing it's too early for a 3DS Lite version but no doubt in my mind they drop to $199 USD this holiday season.
 
I don't understand the grading criteria of some of you guys. Especially the people who say Microsoft did better.

It seems like a conference is only good for TWIST and SURPRISE! or something? What about just holding a good conference and keeping the crap to the minimum? Funny jokes here and there.

EDIT: WTF is an A+ conference?
 
Think this E3 is Nintendo's to lose.

Sony e3 was decent and Uncharted looked amazing but seeing as I'm not a handheld gamer the lack of big PS3 announcement left me a little sad. Thought Jack would of given us one big reveal at the end there but nothing!!!


E3 so far this year has been average.

Great show from Sony, and though it's more of an industry influence, man there was a lot of shooters. Vita is also opened to be dominated by such games.

Definitely better than last year's, and they were already B- to A-range. They brought their A-game this time.

I still want Ninty to win though. :p

Yeah, I was expecting "one last thing", but the end was so sudden. Still, much better than Microsoft's conference. Now waiting for Nintendo to step up with the home console.
 
Nintendo's conference would have to be 2008 levels of bad in order to not completely overshadow Sony and Microsoft's offerings.

And with a new console being revealed, there's no way that's going to happen.

Nintendo won't drop the 3DS price tomorrow. If/When they do drop it, they'll wait until towards the end of the year to do so. Doing it this early would show it's not only a reaction to Sony but the system only came out 3 months ago and would make them look desperate.

Agreed. The conference was boring and made alot of missteps (where were the games?) But the Vita pricing is really amazing for the US.
