These awards are worthless (like any other "award").. Let's look at past winners:

1999: Freelancer
2000: Black & White
2001: Nintendo Gamecube
2002: Doom III
2003: Half-Life 2
2004: PSP

Most likely Spore will win.

Man if Nintendogs takes home any awards I hope Drinky doesn't jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. Pefect Famitsu scores, Fastest selling portable game AND E3 award recognition? It could only be Divine Retribution.

And in 1998, they didn't have a "Best of Show", and instead had a "Most Promising" category, which they awarded to Homeworld, completely ignoring Ocarina of Time in all categories.

Its so funny how much games can impress during the dev process then totally flop upon release while games that were lackluster during development end up owning everything else out there.

Nice to see lots of recognition for SotC and Okami, where elegible. Too bad none of them got selected for best of show though :( (and probably won't win anything anyways).

Animal Crossing not a nominee for best online?

Shove it judges, shove it.

Doesn't deserve to win, but nominated come on.

That is exactly what I thought. DS had tons of pretty original stuff along with some retreads (Kart, AC, etc), and yet the only really original game on that idiotic list is Nintendogs (although I didn't hear anything about Infected, maybe I should check it out). PSP was barely heard from and yet 3 games are nominated guess they were all quietly shown off.

Best Online Multiplayer Game
Anyone

Black was cool, but they're early on in development and not even shipping to the game till 2006. My guess as to why media isn't out for it yet. However, it gets my stamp of approval. If you want a pure, action filled shooter, this is going to quench your thirst like gatorade.

Based on everything I've seen from E3, Spore deserves to dominate.

No, but you got to watch as a developer played it, which is the cool new way to mask crappy gameplay and still be elgible for E3 awards.

But spore does look cool.

Didn't Halo 2 win 2004 - E3 GOTS?

Burnout Legends was garbage for PSP too.. bad/unstable frame rate, average graphics (for PSP), and your car crashed MUCH too easily compared to the console versions. All in all, it was quite average. Sonic Rush, Phoenix Wright, etc. not being nominated is INSANE. Not to mention, where is Mario and Luigi 2 in all categories which was utterly sublime?

Keep in mind, it's mostly american press idiots who do the nominations, including guys from Time magazine (yeah, I don't know, either.) :lol

What's the full list of guys who are on the board that decides who gets nominated for what and who wins what?

Wow, SOCOM for PSP is nominated? The version showed at E3 was very early (I think like 10-20 %) and it played sluggish as hell and looked rather ass to be honest. There were a lot more reasonable options in this category than SOCOM, both for DS and PSP. I'm perplexed...

Half of the American gaming press hates Nintendo. You should have noticed by now.

I mean Infected? WTF?

Looks like it'll be aired on SpikeTV.

NEW YORK, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Spike TV will celebrate the best in the
world of videogames with the first-ever televised presentation of "Game
Critics Awards: The Best of E3" awards. This announcement event will take
place on Spike TV Tuesday, June 7 at 11:25 PM, ET. Leading up to and
immediately following this special award announcement, Spike TV will feature
an entire evening of videogame themed programming with special presentations
of E3 CINEMA and THE ULTIMATE GAMER.

I hope that those people voting in this topic are the ones that were there and actually played the games in question. :lol

If you followed the link in my post it says that, as well as this,
Immediately following the awards announcement, Spike TV will premiere THE
ULTIMATE GAMER: E3 (11:30 PM - Midnight, ET/PT). This original special will
take viewers for an inside look at the E3, the world's largest video game
industry convention and will offer a sneak peek at some of the games that will
start hitting stores later this year. THE ULTIMATE GAMER specials present
some of videogame's hottest and most anticipated game titles. The series
features never before seen game footage, highlights incredible play action of
upcoming releases and surprises the "ultimate" fan of a particular video game
franchise, sending him on a whirlwind tour to experience the game in real
life.
You notice that the award show is only 5-minutes long? That's because they're only airing the announcement of the winners for five categories: Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best PC Game, Best Console and Best Peripheral/Hardware.

What a load of bollocks. Shocking lack of Sonic Rush and New Super Mario Bros... the DS in general had a great showing that isn't represented here.

They got the PS3 eligibilty ASS-BACKWARDS too...

It would make more sense for PS3 to be Best of Show. They showed people things after all, and put out some headline making visuals... even then, I'm not sure they'd deserve it. But Best Hardware? Final hardware wasn't there to play. I totally think this should go to GBMicro or Xbox 360...
