Be prepared for booths outside and around the building.

Aaaaaaaaah, reminds me of E3 2K.

damn right DC++ again

Would you be willing to be responsible and write impressions/interviews/etc for a videogame site during the show? If so, I'll talk to my editor. It might not work, but I'll still ask lol.

Can't wait! I'm actually excited about this year's show, which is the first time in a while. After 10 E3s, though (including those 2 miserable years in Atlanta), I prefer just getting all the information online vs. contending with the crowds, noise, sweat, and BO.

Hotels in LA are also completely booked solid... based on the organizers I've spoken to, this was one contributing factor to the consideration of the show moving to Vegas, although I think that idea was shot down.

LOS ANGELES--March 6, 2006--The Electronic Entertainment Expo
(E3Expo) has sold out of exhibit space for 2006, having sold more than
540,000 net square feet of space covering all five exhibit halls at
the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Entertainment Software
Association (ESA) announced today. The 2006 E3Expo, the world's
premier computer and video game industry trade event, will host more
than 400 exhibitors covering space equivalent to 4,650 Olympic
swimming pools.

It did for the last two years at the very least.

If they need more room, put it in Orlando's convention center. Which is near me. :p

It's been said a thousand times, after Atlanta E3 will NEVER be on the East Coast again.

Exactly, i'd not mind the 2.5 hour drive :)

I would gladly do it though we would have to discuss scheduling in much more detail. :)

When was that actually? I'm curious.

Also, is it possible to stream/download old E3 press conferences from like, 1995 and stuff? I'd imagine that would be funny to look back at.

What? If you're serious about this, I will surely take on this noble mission. :)

Edit: Don't listen to Animal, Phoenix. I saw you first! >:(

I know I've heard people complain about the stink elsewhere, but is it actually that bad?
To be fair, it depends on the booth. Nintendo made a critical error a few years ago when they decided on that "sauna" booth design, which pretty much enclosed their entire booth and created an environment that was disgustingly *tropical* in terms of temperature and humidity. :( I was in there for about 5 minutes before I had to just get myself out of there.

In the mornings before lunch, it's not too bad, but by the mid-afternoon hours, once people have ripened, it can get pretty bad. Last year, the A/C was off temporarily in one of the main halls, and that created a less than pleasant environment.

It's all part of the experience, I guess!

They should move it to Dallas, The convention center is much large tha LA's, almost twice as large.
The Dallas Convention Center has over 1,000,000 square feet. And it offers a staggering 726,726 square feet of prime, contiguous exhibit space along with a 203,000-square-foot column-free exhibit hall, the largest in the US. Plus, the Dallas Convention Center offers even more great features, like a 9,816-seat arena, a theater with a 1,740-person capacity and 105 meeting rooms. Access is very easy, too, from our 75 truck berths. There are even 2 gigantic ballrooms, and the world's largest vertiport. Plus, world-class dining and entertainment are nearby, so it's easy to see why the Dallas Convention Center is your Number 1 choice for events, large or small.

Better yet, why not move it to Chicago:

Chicago's McCormick Place is North America's premier convention facility and attracts 3 million visitors annually. McCormick Place comprises three state-of-the-art buildings, the South and North Buildings and Lakeside Center (formerly the East Building). These buildings have a combined total of 2.2 million square feet of exhibit space, 1.6 million square feet all on one level, making it the nation's largest convention center.

The hub of the convention industry, McCormick Place features:

• 2.2 million sq. ft. of exhibit halls
• 112 meeting rooms
• Assembly seating for 10,000 people
• 4,249 seat theater (Arie Crown)
• 3 theaters seating 345 each
• Ceiling heights up to 50 feet
• Easy access and 8,000 parking spaces

I'm guessing that one of the main reasons it's in LA is because most of the domestic heavy hitters are on the west coast, including all of the first party manufacturers and many of the biggest publishers.

I'm sure the guys who organize E3 are reading this thread and taking all those mid country venue's into consideration.

better yet... why not make it a logistics nightmare and rotate its location?
alternate among west/east/asia/europe

Just talked to my editor. He said we can't give out our passes to people who don't officially work for the site. Sorry guys.

I don't see why it's such a big deal. Why waste a pass. -_-

The big guns will be out on every front this year, it should be awesome. Good thing they restricted access (or atleast they say they are) this year.

The guys at MobyGames were apparently hoping to get some space in Kentia, so they were bummed to learn of this. However, I did like the way their news bit ended:

They say if the Lakers do not make the playoffs they will open more space in the Staples Center. I am a bit of a Lakers fan so I am torn on this one.

Aren't the Clippers a lock for the playoffs? In other words, that's never going to happen.

McCormick Place would be an awesome place for E3. It's HUGE, in the heart of Chicago downtown where kickass hotels and restaurants are as common as taxi's, not to mention that gorgeous lakefront.

*shakes head*

Well, at least we had CES in the 90's! :(
