Combining the thrill of illicit street racing and tuner customization with the intensity of strategic police pursuits that rivals any Hollywood-style chase scene, Need for Speed Most Wanted challenges players to become the most notorious and elusive street racer.

"Out-race your opponents, evade cops and exploit the open world in Need for Speed Most Wanted; street racing doesn't get any better than this," said Larry LaPierre, senior producer, EA Canada. "Players instantly will feel the thrill of the ride as they hit the streets in an open world environment where drivers can tune their cars to compete against any class of vehicles or use their wits to out-fox the law to satisfy their need for speed."

Need for Speed Most Wanted delivers a unique, fast-paced and gripping ride in the racing genre as players build up their Rap Sheet and street cred to move their way up the Black List to become the most wanted racer on the streets. Players will go head-to-head with the top drivers on the scene as well as strategically evade more than half dozen cops at any one time. Add in a dynamic open world, new gameplay and customization as well as tuners, supercars, muscles and sports cars and Need for Speed Most Wanted will be on every gamer's "must-have" list.

Developed in Vancouver, B.C. by EA Canada, Need for Speed Most Wanted will be available for a next generation console as well as the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox videogame system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, PSP handheld entertainment system and PC.

EA needs to learn how to space sequels out. It's no wonder there game sales are dropping. They are releasing a new version of basically every franchise they have at least once a year.

The only exeption is sports games though.

Need for Speed for a next generation console

License plate in the pic has Nov 6 on it

Xenon/Xbox360 to release on November 6?

They released two NFL Street and two Bond games in 2004. They're probably hoping to release a new installment of every franchise they have on a quarterly basis.

Underground and Hot Pursuit, merge for the killlllllllllllllll! :D

I'm really tempted to pick this up. I've got this twisted urge to trick out a Lamborghini with vinyls, neon, spinners, and a day-glo paint job, then go taunt the cops with my rolling abomination. :lol

they've got a lot of mouths to feed....their studios are ridiculously bloated

I want a Need For Speed with interesting levels like the old ones. I remember one NFS I played on PC (probably Hot Pursuit) had an Atlantis level and a really cool futuristic night city track, why can't we have more like those?

This is honestly the first NFS I'm interested in since the original. I'm a sucker for open world environments. Just hope the roads are nicely populated.

thwe question is: does nfs: most wanted use the renderware engine or not? judging from the pic, i would say yes and i really hope that too, because nfs games with below 25fps suck.

Need for Speed Underground 2 sold over 8.4 million copies. The Need for Speed franchise has now surpassed $1 billion in life-to-date sales.

That 8.4 million is for its first six weeks. How could they not make a new NFS title this year?

You're right. I wonder if that means November 2006--that would make no sense, unless the "one" next-gen system they're referring to is the PS3. Announcing it this far out makes no sense either. And November 6, 2005 is a Sunday, so that makes no sense either.

Didn't the Gamecube release on a Sunday? Same as GBA SP

WTF happened to this? Most Wanted looks like NFS Underground series.
I hope the Xenon (or the next-gen console that will have it) title quality will be like this image... can't wait for the first true screenshots :-)

I believe that was just a visual target for the 3D model fidelity of the cars on next-gen systems, not actual in-game footage.

Boo for more lame tuner BS. Just give me my racing game and my cars kthx.

My thoughts exactly word for word

so... could that be a xbox360 shot? certainly looks better then a current gen game, yet it doesnt look like cg. anyone?

why would the license say nov 16? do you guys even know how a registration sticker works? :lol

it says november 06 and refers to november 2005 which is when you would get a Nov 06 sticker put on your car if you had it registered in novembers.

right, but i wasnt one of them.

this certainly looks quite a bit more detailed then the bo4 pics, it didnt originate from psm, and specifically announces a next gen console as a platform.

Yeah! Let's give players less options than in previous games! Underground and Underground 2 have shown us that a lot of them enjoy customizing their rides, so instead of combining that element with the supercars and police chases from Hot Pursuit 2, we ought to just ditch it altogether! Genius, pure genius! :p
