Rumor: EA has shelved the "Need for Speed" franchise

This is one of the biggest franchises in gaming, it was a big money maker for EA for decades.

The last one had a big budget and flopped like a fish though.

Fucking modern gaming, the budgets are so high that one failure is enough to end 25 years of history.

That and licensing is a bitch

Forza Motorsport dead, NFS dead, Dirt also dead.

So the only big budget. arcade style, fun racing game is Forza Horizon? Damn, we need competition. I liked NFS heat, was pretty and fun.

Unbound was the last one and nobody cared for it, myself included. And now some of you are sad about NFS? Gimme a break. Just install your favourite old game(s) from this franchise in and call it a day.

Please expand on this.
Crew has better festival missions which get updated every week. Grand race multiplayer is so far the best racing experience you can get in any game. More cars variety than forza. Handling is improved. I have played both games around 300hrs each but motor fest keeps me engaged.

I thought even Crew 2 was better than FH5. The Crew is under-appreciated here. It does almost everything better than FH.

Thanks.

Was considering trying it out tbh.

They should just remake the Underground games. Nowadays they would stand out and the nostalgia would sell them also.
It's really sad that racing games rarely get remasters or remakes. I bet it's the licensing thing, getting stuff like the cars or the music again (imagine NfS:U without 'Get Low') is probably expensive and makes it a risky project.

You could say EA no longer has a need… for speed.
