EA & Arena Football League enter exclusive agreement

I realize the difference between the Madden & NFL2k* games, as far as polish, but it's somewhat excusable. Madden has been around for 15 years now, NFL2k* only for 6. They've put together a pretty good product at Sega, which I enjoy thoroughly. I've bought both games the last couple years, and had fun with both. Oh well, not this year, good work, EA.
Thats not a good reason though. Polished games are a result of a developer and publisher committed to making the best product possible. Level 5, a relative unknown until this generation, makes very polished games. Sony's Team Ico does the same. Sega's football games make very little progress in terms of polish, such as full stat tracking, easy to navigate menues, and a solid rating system for all players throughout. Not to mention consistant AI. Sega's AI varies from really good to really crappy. At least EA's maintains a constant mediocre you can play around.

well, there's still nfl australia and nfl europe, right? ... right?

maybe take two should just buy VC and make a fictional football game with GTA elements (since apparently if you listen to internet forums, that sells anything!) where you manage a football team and also get steroids and hookers for them while eliminating other crime families in the offseason.

Hope Fifa tell EA to fuck off. I dont think i'll be able to continue gaming if Konami lost the rights to Pro Evolution

Actually Konami doesn't have any rights. That's the fun part. That's why they don't name players and teams with their exact names. So FIFA and EA can fuck off, PES (also known as Winning Eleven) still sells better than FIFA in many countries and it's quite encouraging thinking that FIFA used to sell better (although it's not that encouraging that a game like PES is compared with the uninnovative crapness called FIFA). I think we need more publishers to follow Konami's example. Invest on gameplay and not in stupid licences.

I'd sell the rights to myself to EA if they came up with the right price! Every man has a price!
Sorry...Couldn't resist...

EA hates developers having the freedom to use popular sports licenses. The only thing that can save us now is President Bush.

Well if Nintendo really wants to go crazy with the Mario sports franchises now would be the time to give Visual Concepts a ring.

NFL Australia? WTF?
NFL Europe is already included in the NFL rights, the NFL in it's name already tells you that.
Further, Midway is planning on a new NFL Blitz based on Playmakers (the ESPN show) where you can drug up your players.

Yes... I can feel your lifeforce.... once you give yourself to overdog... there is nothing left... for you!

I don't think, for all their money and DILLUSIONS of grandour, they'll ever become the gaming supremecy they wish to be.
Not played their football games being a brit, I admit. However if has the same seal of approval as their other "Games" then however big the size of their petty cheques, they'll still be no more than a wannabe, sniffing around the skirts of true developers who do have the vision and talent to move the industry forward.

They are the rain, but I have shelter.
