EA Chicago: "Xbox 360 = PS3"

"Something so detailed and smooth, the naysayers claimed, simple could not exist, even on the most powerful hardware unveiled by Sony earlier in the conference. It's an elaborate fake, they said. Guess what? It's not. We played it. Fight Night Round 3 is the real deal, and those who couldn't believe that the PS3 could generate such amazing gameplay are about to get another shock: Fight Night Round 3 is also coming to XBox 360.

The talented crew at EA's Chicago studio began working on the 360 version of Fight Night mere months ago, and already it looks nearly identical to the PS3 footage shown at E3. When finished, the two versions should be practically indistinguishable."

Wait...weren't many of us pretty unimpressed by the Fight Night next gen stuff? i swear to god I remember a hate topic.

The quote actually says the PS3 is the most powerful hardware, and the X360 could also pull Fight Night off (meaning they aint trying on PS3).

People aren't considering multiplatform games a benchmark for what each system is capable of are they?

Why not? EA has the money to push each platform plus they've been working on next gen the longest!

THAT'S IT. IT'S OVER.

I think this is going to be true of most multiplaform titles next gen. It's really gonna be hard to decide which version to get of such games.

Silent Hill 2 came out on multiple platforms, and you and Dark10x kept trotting it out.

EA makes money because they don't push hardware ;) They don't exactly make technical exemplars, at least not with their multiplatform titles.

Re. Fight Night, I think it's easily achievable on X360 from what we saw at E3.

Fight Night 3 wasnt mindblowing. it was running at 30fps or less (25 fps ?)

its no surprise that it can also be made to work on Xbox 360.

Madden 2001 wowed gamers. I'd say EA is a technical pusher at launch. They just get lazy or hit such a high bar in the first place.

Next gen Def Jam is also being made by EA Chicago now and not AKI.

It shows too, i'm sure Bizarre is sitting in their studio scratching their head as to why they can't get PGR3 looking as good as NFS. :p

Bizarre is only making one game. PGR3 looks better than NFS for sure. But I've seen the new Fight Night and Def Jam next gen pics and they are stunning. Actually I think they are more impressive than PGR3 'cause racers already looked good this gen. Madden is looking extremely impressive as well from the early footage we've seen of Alexander.

Where are these new Def Jam pics at?

I know Bizarre is much smaller. I'm saying Def Jam and next gen Fight Night look more impressive than PGR3.

Game Informer. Not on the stands yet I don't think. Just to subscribers so far.

Which is why games built specifically for a certain systems power are the benchmarks for those systems. I'm not saying multiplatform games don't look good, because they do, but they aren't going to show off what each system is really capable of doing.

Yeah, but it also doesn't mean the games will be handled in a lazy fashion! Next gen the companies with the money to spend win out and EA has the money to spend!

Xbox 360 version will also have 4XAA for basically free! :D

SSx: You just reasoned that since NFSMW looks better than PGR3, you should use PGR3 as the benchmark instead as MW is "not truly indicative of the console's power."

My head aches.

I knew I wasn't crazy. Well, it seemed quite likely anyway.

That doesn't look as nearly as impressive as what they hope to achieve with Madden...=\

both men have their mouths open in disgust at how awful they look.

liquid pants!!!

That doesn't look like that big of an upgrade after Fight night Round 2.

The only difference I see between this and round 2 on the XBOX is that the shorts have been dipped in KY jelly and there's no jaggies. Oh and the look on that guy's face is awesome.

That actually doesn't look all that good - particularly the funky lighting coming off the pants. Hopefully this is REALLY early.

Not really, aside from the faces I really couldn't tell if it was Fight Night Round 2 or not if I didn't know, even the ropes around the ring look pretty crappy.

The faces don't even look CLOSE to the 'next-gen' head models they showed last year.

i like how the sweat flying off the boxer looks.

thats about it.

they both look like they have down syndrome tho.

So this is the PS3 difference.

Oh, i'm definately waiting now. :lol

And around 2 positive comments. Makes the GI comments...confusing, but I suppose there's more internet out there beyond GAF country.

SSX was being sarcastic.

No AKI = No sale

At least we'll get Def Jam PSP from AKI around Christmas.

And sometime this year EA will announce their EAJ-developed fighting game. :)

Actually no they're not, they're working on two, PGR3 and another secret title. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :D

I need to become some sort of insider somewhere. Thanks for the news. What other games have they made besides driving games?

sorry, my english isn't the best (my first language is german) - i don't know what AKI means. does that mean that def jam 3 will not be for sale or what? :)

It's more along the lines of...The PlayStation 3 really isn't as powerful as Sony says it is. In reality I think it has more graphical power than the Xbox 360, but not by a while generation gap as Sony is trying to make it out as.

That's blasphemy to some folks here. :lol

Er, what do you need to be an insider for? They mention their other project in nearly every other studio update :)

You can get an idea of the type of game from: http://www.bizarreonline.net/index.php?action=fullnews&showcomments=1&id=38

Alan's instructions for this particular motion capture session were to grab his neck, and act out a slow and painful death.

I don't think its a racing game ;)

A whole generational gap? Man, only a retarded anal monkey would think such a thing, at best it's likely a PS2 to Xbox scenerio regarding Xbox360 to PS3, but even then it's unlikely as the PS2 to Xbox was widely separated with the PS2 inability to do effects that xbox could do standard because of the lack of hardwired effects.

We have these new machines that are designed to do all these next generation shader 3.0 effects standard, but now it's really about who does it fastest and better.

*yawn* Fight night next gen is just another renderware title and we all know that all EA titles will be multiplatform. They haven't announced NFS, Madden, NBA etc for PS3 just yet and most of their sports lineup also uses renderware.

None of the EA titles will use the full potential of either X360 or PS3, most of their stuff will be running off renderware but the next gen rederware software is looking great!

So did MGS2...

Thing is, in both cases, the non-PS2 versions were missing numerous graphical features. The PS2 versions were considerably more impressive as a result...

Those are exceptions, not the rule. They were made for the PS2 and only ported around later. Kinda like Resident Evil 4 on the GC...
