I'm not one to link to my own stuff here unless I feel its highly relevent, and in this instance, I do. My two cents is that for all the ways EA's might in unhealthy for the industry, I personally feel they're going to do a lot of good in the mobile space. Their pockets allowing them to make three entirely sep. versions of all their big mobile titles shows a genuine interest in creating a QUALITY mobile experience, instead of shoveling shit out there.

"I don't know why EA is named so frequently in these rumors," Batter told Modojo. He paused, continuing, "The most likely explanation is that we've made it clear we want to aggressively build in the space."

"We always keep that option available, and would certainly consider an acquisition in the mobile space if the right situation came along," Batter said. "We aren't averse to the idea. People are aware that EA has a history of acquiring companies when it is beneficial, so that probably contributes to this current speculation."

EA has recognized a significant stratification in today's handsets, which is why their flagship mobile titles are separated into three distinct development efforts, from three different teams.

"We found that creating a code base in the mid-range and then stretching that to the high end under optimized performance," Batter explained. "Our big titles have entirely separate high-end 3D, mid-range, and low-end color display versions created."
