EA Play (included in Game Pass Ultimate) now offers five hours trial of Veilguard

BioWare has released a free timed trial for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, allowing anyone with an EA Play subscription to check out the game for a limited time at no extra cost. EA Play is included with Game Pass Ultimate, so subscribers to that service get this, too.

The timed trial lets you play the full game, but only for a period of five hours. Time spent in the in-game character creator counts toward the five hours, but you can use the standalone character creator tool to create a hero outside of the game and then import them from the same device/console.

EA Play by itself costs $6/month or $40/year. EA Play Pro, meanwhile, costs $17/month or $120/year. EA Play Pro members get all manner of extras for The Veilguard, including cosmetics and armor sets.

After the five hours is up, players can purchase The Veilguard outright to keep playing. Currently, the game is marked down to $50 on Amazon--you can use the link below to learn more.

Edit:

The game is currently 35% off on Steam. Mod team can we add the sale info to title?

Does this include PC Gamepass? I just recently downconverted from Ultimate to PC only and don't know what I can and can't do yet.

I planned on playing it in a year when it hits GP. Don't really need to try 5 hours now. Maybe I'll get to the first fight or two and turn it off.

To be fair to EA, discounting the game and offering free trials etc is exactly what they should be doing. Day one prices on new games are a turn off for many buyers, and the industry seems to have coalesced around an understanding that once you've gotten your full price from the enthusiasts, a lot more casuals will jump in at $40 than at $80. Good on EA for giving the game every chance to succeed.

Bad on EA for letting the ideologues who made the game, make the game but there's not much to be done about that now.

Unfortunately I personally wouldn't invest my time in this game even if paid $40 to do so. A story driven single player RPG with no role playing and horrendous writing, no thanks.

not that im disputing the meme you've made. but isnt this normal with games that launch in september - november? the games go on sale during black friday or boxing day?
For newer games, yes they go on sale during the holiday season but usually with a moderate 10% - 20% discount. e.g. Silent Hill 2, Space Marine 2, Astro bot, etc. No to mention Black Myth Wukong never went on sale at all.

EA must want to boost Veilguard's number so badly that they slash it by 35% just after a month.

I wouldn’t play your game for 5 hours. I would play your game for free. I wouldn’t play your shitty game if I were on an 18 hour flight and had nothing to do.

I never forgot how they butchered ME3 and then blamed the fans for not accepting their “genius” ending. Fuck you Bioware. It’s been a pleasure watching you slowly rot and humiliate yourselves for over a decade.

If you like the direction Bioware has gone with their last 3 games, then by all means reward them with your hard earned money.

No, thanks, I'd rather replay Pillars of eternity I & 2, Divinity Original Sin I & 2, Pathfinder Kingmaker & Wrath of the righteous or Baldur's Gate III, you know rpg's which are true to its root instead of this travesty.

Or.. Dragon Age Origins & Awakening

I’m trying to think of a reason not to but I guess I can try it. My computer can’t get digital herpes given that they don’t exist, correct?

Here is what ChatGpT thinks. Not quite the topic but close enough! 😉

I will not play it, Sam EA,
I will not play your games today.

I will not play them here or there,
I will not play them anywhere!

I do not like your microfees,
Or games with bugs that crash with ease.

I will not grind for hours and hours,
Just to buy a pack of “special powers.”

I will not join your yearly spree,
Where every game feels like a “fee.”

Not on console, not on PC,
Not in the cloud, it’s not for me!

I do not want your loot-box tricks,
I do not need your pay-to-fix!

So no, I say, I will not play,
Your games are just not worth my stay.

I’ll find my fun in other ways,
No thanks to you, Sam EA!

Bad idea for the insurance claim, JSO would turn the copies into hot liquid and throw it on the paintings
