Sounds like the combat is definitely better than FFXVI. XVI doesn't even have builds. Doesn't even have elemental weakness. Doesnt have fuck all.

It's better in every aspect although XVI has better enemy variety and boss models.

Most of the time with RPG I go with swords and shield , but with Dark Souls for example I went with a warrior pyro build and i quite dug that. I assume DA let's me be a battlemage as well?

Yes there is a battlemage branch with daggers and combos between melee and spells. It's one of the three sub-specs of the mage class.

Yes, there is a PC exclusive tier that includes day one access to some games IIRC. Maybe all games?

Unlikely that MS paid anything extra for it, it's coming to EA Play, as all EA games eventually do.

Between this and it coming to ps plus earlier, veilguard was a massive bomb. EA now is just trying to juice up the player count.

I'd say they are just trying to get as much money back as they can. I doubt they care about boosting the player count. As long as MS/Sony pay them a lump some it's better then what they are getting from a la carte sales.

I'm actually gonna run through dragon age again. I played ranged magic the first time and combat was kinda meh, I booted up melee for a few before I sold it and it was so much better
