So in the midst of all these exciting developments comes some sobering news: Tiger Woods will only feature nine PGA golfers (Vijay Singh and John Daly among them) and a mere six courses (including the TPC at Sawgrass and Pebble Beach). If there was ever a case to be made for the microtransaction capabilities of the next-gen Xbox Live 2, it would be for downloading new courses to the new Tiger. No word yet on whether this will be possible, but the producers said they are "investigating" such a feature.

Yeah...but the PGA Tour does not only have 6 courses, and the PGA Tour includes alot more golfers than 9...it's like giving us NBA Live with only The Target Center, Staples and MSG to play with...and only the Starters are licensed...the bench player are the feared " Roster" players. Come on!

Isn't this how the first PS2 Tiger Woods was? Because EA wants to bring out its sports franchises every year, a lot of the "first year - new gen" titles are a bit content starved. Most of their dev time is spent making the engine, not on rendering courses.

I've been saying all along that the current push for microtransactions and DLC, if successful, will eventually result in games shipping with the bare minimum of content. (Why include content on the disc that you don't have to, especially if you can get away with selling it separately at a higher profit?) I am surprised (and a little dismayed) at how aggressively EA seems to be jumping on this particular bandwagon, though. From the sound of things, they don't seem to be wasting any time. =/
