Easy Allies |EZOT| Good Vibes and Good Hype

I just thought both games dragged on a bit and would've been fine as 30 minute segments instead of full hour ones.

Yeah i guess i just don't think Streets of rage 3 aged well compared to Contra 3. But ye maybe 30 minutes per game would have been better not including setup time ofcourse.

Does not surprise me Huber is in the most videos, he also does the most streams, the man is a beast.

Hold on is that a real thing? I tuned out of the stream so I can't tell if it's a joke

Sucks if we lost Don but would be interesting to have a new person on board

Easy Allies could really use a female ally , right now its a sausage fest, I dont think they can afford it tho. maybe in the 5 year annyversary

I think that someone like Elyse would make a great addition to the team. Unfortunately someone like that is a rarity in the gaming journalism world.

Expecting diversity for a small group of freelancers is not fair. They're not a established company, they're still on own their own despite having all this support and chemistry & comradery is everything here so perspective alone won't be enough for EZA.

It's not necessarily unfair... it definitely would be a welcome addition. I don't think anyone here says that they are at fault for being non-inclusive or anything, obviously they are only able to sort of sustain themselves at the current level

Question for those who watched it live - it don't mind sharing the early podcast love with non Patrons at all, but they alluded to thinking of something for the Patrons since they paid for the privilege. Did they do anything and do you have to watch the stream to catch it?

They will do extra Love and Respect questions off stream for Patrons.

Several people were back during the announcement thread.

If so that sucks. It was annoying for Giant Bomb too when they were criticized for just hiring their friends. Much like EZA their dynamic works because it's exactly that, just a group of friends. Compared to like an actual news outlet or something where you have more of a responsibility to have different perspectives and representation

That said, it would totally be welcome for the group, and if anything EZA needs that sort of thing more because it's 9 people in one place and they don't have the industry regulars/connections that GB has. Obviously it has to fit what they're able to support though.

Yea Brandon agrees. I think it was a podcast L&R where there was some question about a scenario that adds someone and he alluded if they were ever to add someone down the line it would be someone who was "not a white male".

iirc brandon or blood said that most of the industry guys knows them thanks to the gt days so they're not exactly "out of nowhere", of course it's not like being "gametrailers" but it's still something i guess

They have connections but nothing like what GB has. They have like a whole extended family of people in the games industry that are basically extended cast members. Gamespot people like Mary Kish are regulars on some of their streaming stuff.

It helps that Jeff has been in games for like 20 years now but yea

Just catching up with the stream and Sofia melds really well. Most guests they have stuck out like a sore thumb because of how tight and balanced the OG crew is but she works pretty well.

Edit: Aww, Don's message was great!

So is frame trap next week due to Ben being in Japan this week or are they still keeping the same schedule but skipping this week's episode entirely?

I think part of that is that group streams are usually fairly short, so most guests seem to arrive and leave pretty quickly. Sofia had a lot more time to get comfortable and yeah, she was great, even when she was getting Don fired.

Oh wow, so there's still an episode this week despite him being in Japan AND he apologizes for the slight delay? I didn't expect an episode at all, so it's a nice bonus. No apology needed! :p

I think he said something about a Skype episode in his TGS trip announcement, so it probably needed a bit more editing time than most episodes.

Just listening to the podcast, I know Ian has a different taste to the mainstream and I would say that I like most of the games he likes but saying that Uncharted 4 is just "good" is wrong.

The game is absolutely incredible. It's a landmark achievement in game development. It might not be your type of gameplay but it is the pinnacle of the industry. It is gigantic in both detail and length. It doesn't pander as much as TLOU, the writing is better, the graphics are unbelievable, they improved the combat encounters massively from the previous trilogy, the soundtrack is one of the best of the year, it has incredible pacing considering the size of the game.

It perfected every facet of itself. I completely disagree with Jones, if you want to talk about a game that was expected to be good and was just "good to very good" then that's Dark Souls 3. Graphically improved but added nothing to the Souls formula. In fact, it reduced the variety of the gameplay by nerfing Magic and Faith builds. As a Souls fanatic, I don't know how Ian said it "perfected the combat" with a straight face.

Hey, hey. I'm not saying it has to win GOTY. It was more that he can't admit that it's such a huge achievement. He called it a "cute, little game" on a previous stream and even Bosman called him out on it. It was more an argument against the idea that "Uncharted was expected to be good and it was."

I liked UC4 ok but the campaing has severe pacing issues IMO. The wallclimbing ect is not fun (outside of combat encounters where it shines) and there is way too much of it. Exploring is still not rewarded with anything interesting.

Narrative side is top tier when it comes to acting ect, technical side is the best PS4 has to offer but as a game it's solid 8 at best when all is said and done.

That said I have not played DS3 yet and have had very little time put into UC4 multiplayer.

no, I'm not talking about the uncharted discussion since I haven't really played it. I'm talking about the diminishment of games like TLOU or Dark Souls 3, specially the bolded parts.

Those games are absolutely fantastic and shouldn't be diminished in order to take up Uncharted 4 points.
