EB Games doesn't take back unopened games?

1. Why are you paying full price @ EB when EVERY major release is on sale for significantly cheaper @ Fry's within the 1st week of it's release (in most cases day 1)?

2. Why didn't you just take the price sticker off the game and then return it to EB? They would've said nothing at all and would've just taken it back.

3. Why don't you still take the price tag off and take it back to another EB and DON'T say anything about finding it cheaper elsewhere or anything similar? Just tell them you changed your mind.

Oh and, STOP PAYING FULL PRICE FOR GAMES WHEN YOU HAVE A FRY'S WITHIN REACH THAT WILL ALWAYS HAVE MOST ALL GAMES ON SALE!!!!!!

You're welcome :D

1) I live in Indianapolis, and Fry's is on the North side of town in the worst location and traffic is a pain. I don't normally go their but I was in the area and stopped in.

2) As I've tried to state in my previous posts, I've done this before at my local EB with several of the salesman and even the above mentioned manager. I didn't think it was that big of a deal because no one ever siad anything to me. Also I didn't want to risk breaking the shrinkwrap. I didn't think this was going to be an issue.

3) Now that's a good idea, but my original post was in regards to the store policy. I didn't know that they wouldn't take game back. I talked to a couple of pals who do the same thing all the time (even at my local EB). They were shocked that my EB didn't take the game back. Now I know the rules, I've got nothing to complain about.

Fry's here in Indy is at a point in the city that has the worst traffic and the most accidents. If there were one closer to me I'd live in that store. Like I said I just happen to be in there and thuoght I would take advantage of the deal. Now I know....and knowing is half the battle. :P

Eh... I do that frequently. If I buy a game #1 at EB or Gamestop or Walmart, take it home and play it... then find the same game somewhere else for less, I'll buy copy #2 and then return copy #2 (sealed) with the receipt from #1. I'm returning an identical item, inside the manufacturer seal, with my receipt. The store may not want me to do that, but it's easier than dealing with their silly price matching system.

OK, I apologize for saying you were scamming them. Your post was very unclear about having TWO copies of the same game.

Your mistake was being honest. You should have just taken the pricetag off the one from Fry's and returned it as though it was the one EB sold you. You can still probably do this at another store, as mentioned. If that EB hassles you at all, say you received it as a gift and you were told the game was purchased at that store. As long as it's sealed, you should be fine that way.

Alternately, you can probably get full price on eBay.

First I'm chastised for trying to scam EB, now I'm told, "shame on you for being honest".... :lol

Just joking...like I said, I just wanted to know what's the story. I'm heading back to Fry's this weekend for some other stuff, but I may stop buy another EB and try to exchange it for far Cry Instincts, taking great care to remove the Fry's price tag. Or just take it back to Fry's. My underlying gripe is that EB isn't really try to compete anymore in light of the fact that the competition has stepped up and gets games on release day (i.e. Gamerush, GameCrazy, etc.). I wish my fry's wasn't in BFE and wasn't at least a 20 minute drive without traffic (45 minutes with). Grabbing Burnout Revnege for $35 last week was a gift from the gaming gods! I have to grab Ninja Gaiden Black from them on sale for $25 this week. ;)

Why did you tell them you bought it somewhere else?

they can tell every retailer has a different way of price sticking items

I'd bet if they didnt leave the price sticker on the game and had their reciet she would have taken it back

but to walk in with a game that was obviously bought in another store even if you had a reciet is just stupid, when I was manager of a funcoland I wouldn't have taken it back either, my store would have made no money on the sale it would be pointless for us to return something

remember stores are in buisness to make money not to be your best friends

Your first post was pretty confusing. Most of us read it as you buying a game at Fry's and returning it to EB without ever originally buying a copy at EB ever. I think that's why people are accusing you of scamming.

Well, as an update....I took the unopened game to another EB Friday night and they exchanged it for a pre-pay for Fry Cry Instincts with no hassle whatsoever. So my local EB is full of ****!. I took the sticker off just in case, and not all of it came off and he didn't bat an eye. I just wanted to be sure to unload it first. After the hassle I got at the other store I didn't want to be bothered. I WILL ask him when I go pick up Far Cry this week what is the official policy at his store.
