Check out the new exclusive preview demo look from the upcoming Echo Generation 2 running in Unity 6. We captured this early gameplay footage in RTX 5090 and 4K monitor (no commentary). Echo Generation 2 is a sci-fi tactical deck-building RPG that elevates the franchise's signature voxel aesthetic into the realm of cosmic horror, following Jack as he fights to survive a haunting parallel dimension. By blending strategic card-based combat with the active defense and parry mechanics reminiscent of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the game offers a more mature and mechanically deep experience than its predecessor. Set against an 80s synth backdrop, it masterfully bridges the gap between the nostalgic mystery of Stranger Things and a mind-bending interdimensional survival story, making it a unique and visually striking sideways prequel.
Description:
The game puts you in the boots of Jack, the missing father from the first game. Trapped in a mysterious new dimension after a breach investigation gone wrong, Jack must navigate alien worlds and survive cosmic horrors to find his way back home. The narrative explores Jack's "missing years," filling in the gaps of how his story connects to the events his children faced in the original game.
Gameplay Features:
Deck-building Mechanic: While the first game used a more traditional turn-based system, Echo Generation 2 introduces a deck-building mechanic with card-based combat. Players collect and customize over 100 unique cards to perform attacks, skills, and combos.
Playable Characters: You will control Jack and other characters like Noliva and Bulder, each with their own strategic playstyles.
Summoning Allies: You can recruit quirky and strange companions through quests, who can then be summoned in battle to provide powerful assists and synergies.
Voxel: The game retains the iconic 3D pixel art of its predecessor but with significant upgrades. The visuals are now more detailed, featuring real-time lighting and smoother animations to reflect its shift into cosmic horror. The atmosphere is further enhanced by an 80s-inspired analog synth soundtrack composed by Pusher.
Release Date and Platforms: Coming in 2026 to PC and Xbox Game Pass Day One.
