Julian Assange’s days of asylum may be numbered, depending on how Ecuador’s presidential elections go. Guillermo Lasso, a leading candidate in Ecuador’s presidential race, said he would boot the Wikileaks chief out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London if he wins the upcoming presidential elections next week.

Though Lasso is still trailing, he has gained momentum as the most likely candidate to oust Moreno after an initial round of voting on Feb. 19 is expected to lead to a runoff vote. It’s safe to say Assange is following this election closely, too.

Assange is a coward and probably has some exciting insight into the us election at the slightest risk to his liberty.

Or may develop a mystery illness.

You know, if he hadn't fled to the embassy in the first place he probably would've been free a long time ago.

To "us"? As far as I know he isn't facing extradition to the U.S, this is still about the rape case in Sweden.

He is afraid of not just facing the rape case but Sweden giving him to the US. Who knows if they would because of what the US would do to him but he seems to think there's a chance.

Assange likes to say he'll be extradited to the US to be tortured as an excuse for not standing trial over the rape allegations. It's worth about as much as any excuse uttered by a fugitive from justice.
