Was at the local Chapters today, Square One Mississauga, and lo and behold, I saw Edge magazine on the racks!! They've finally started carrying it over here.

And let me say, it assrapes all the North American magazines available now. I miss XBNation...

here in NZ we get both British and watered down Aussie EDGE.

Edge is a shadow of its former self.

If that's true than Edge's former self must have been amazing. Because I've only seen recent issues of it and they're quite impressive IMO.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu from this thread.

Anyway, I've been buying EDGE for over two years here in Montreal.

No, Games is a completely different type of magazine. You can like it more, but they are not comparable.

The features of Edge are unmatched in videogames press. I have benn a subscriptor for years and I maintain this. Other thing about Edge could be discussed, but not that.

I would say that the best of Edge is its name. Because that name, they have a lot of respect from the industry, possibly more than any other magazine in the world. The use to have excellent features about industry and aspect of games (design, philosophy...) that are not easily covered for other magazines, and they tend to count with many authorized voices in the industry to do this features.

They use to be quite deep lectures, not too complicated to be taken only for professionals but enough to make you feel you are reading something worth, that makes you think.

Their interviews use to be really insightful, its design and cover is really nice (that is more a personal opinion), and they have some interesting columns and pieces of writing here and there. They are not perfects, they have fails and you can be agree or not with its reviews and maybe is not the type of magazine you are interested. GamesTM for example is a more appropiate mag to read about just games, if you are more interested on games that reading what they have behind (I love both, they cover very well different aspects of videogames).

Lot of years ago, I remember myself living in UK and buying my first Edge. I remember very well the feeling that I was reading something that gave a lot of respect to the industry of videogames. It was more than "OMG, this game is gonna be awesome", it made me feel the videogame industry was something more than the next big project, a serious business full of interesting professionals to speak with. Years after, I would say that keeps being the point of Edge.
