Judging from the new X05 HD videoclips over at Gametrailers, PDZ is far from a disappointment.Matlock said:Biggest disappointment: PERFECT DARK ZERO
We came from all over the country, and represented several gaming sites, including Gamespot, IGN, Xboxaddict, xbox365, Gamespy, Playstation, and Nintendo.

On Oblivion radiant AI said:It was written in the code that every day at 3 pm, Man 1 would rake leaves and Man 2 would sweep. This all seemed fine and dandy until the devs gave Man 1 the broom and Man 2 the rake. Man 1 ended up killing Man 2 so he could get his rake so he could do what he wanted. Thats pretty cool if you ask me.
There are so many sliders (Im not sure, but Id guess at least 100, perhaps more) that messing up one can lead to drastic effects on the face that are really hard to fix without starting over, so be careful.

:lol Oh Oblivion dearest...I pray we can be together soon

PDZ is supposed to be Microsoft big game at X360 but they didn't have it at the limelight at this show. They showed Kameo first and PGR3 seemed to be next. So it means a couple things to me:
1) MS is holding back PDZ footage for a surprise at launch
2) The game is only mediocre and MS knows it so they aren't pushing it anymore
3) The game is unfinished and may not make launch
I'm starting to think it may be number 3. I'm hoping it is number 3. If RARE needs another 6 months to get the game done, give it to them! I'd rather have a AAA experience in April/May 2006 than a half finished game in November 2005. Plus PDZ could have its own limelight by being the game to help push Xbox 360 post Xmas.
A few of the other weapons we saw in the selection menu were the S-Dragon, the laptop gun, an uzi, and a combat shotgun. Overall the graphics were solid though there were the occasional framerate hiccups. The controls remained tight, the reload animations very flashy, and the sounds immersive. This launch title is definitely looking to be a first rate game, we'll have more as it comes. - IGN
Perfect Dark Zero really has come a long way since we saw it at E3, and it looks great. We look forward to bringing you more information on the game just as soon as we get our hands on a more finished version. - Gamespot
Perfect Dark Zero may not be anywhere close to a Halo in the making, but any way you look at it, the game is shaping up to be a true killer app. As if the Hong Kong rooftop and car garage levels we saw at X05 weren't evidence enough, seeing these new areas in Perfect Dark Zero has convinced us that Joanna definitely has what it takes to carry the 360 launch next month.
It's not Halo, among other assorted compliants. Random, lucky forum poster
Speevy said:I frankly think the 360 is better off not being tied to a launch FPS. Then when Halo (the genre king) does come along, people will already have some other favorite Xbox titles.
I posted these statements @ Team Xbox forums:Cerrius said:I hope Microsoft doesn't force Rare to released a half-assed PDZ.
If it needs a delay, DELAY IT DAMN IT.
We've waited 5 years, another 6 months won't hurt.
-EGM magazineCurrently the game allows for a maximum of 32 players, a number that has tumbled from the first-mooted 64 to 50..."We had to settle on this number to get PDZ finished in a compressed time frame."
when people say things like, "it's no Halo", I believe they aren't necessarily referring to gameplay mechanics .. I believe they are referring to what Halo represents; a killer app / system seller / AAA+ title .... a title like Halo sells systems.. some people bought Xbox so they could play Halo ......... is PD0 in the same league as Halo in this way? as the poster of the impressions write-up that this thread pointed to alluded to, it may have the potential to be, but it may need more time to achieve 'Halo status' i.e.: killer app / system seller / AAA+ title status .....Agent Icebeezy said:The result, GAF whining again. You guys emotions change more than my fuckin wife. Once I saw the comparison to Halo, I knew to discredit it. It's not Halo, Perfect Dark on the N64 didn't play like Halo. If this plays the the N64 version, I'm in heaven. Battlefield 2 doesn't play like Halo 2. Is it fun as fuck, hell yeah. Can this game please stand on it's own fuckin merits. Even so, it seems as it people have had an agenda against this game from the get-go. It's quite pathetic. The Halo franchise is the best at what it does, but that doesn't mean every other game should be discredited as a result. Waah, you can't jump. You couldn't jump in either Goldeneye or Perfect Dark and it didn't stop either from the being the shit. Previews are nice, but I don't let them decide on a game for me. I'd suggest you do the same.
J2 Cool said:Wow, those impressions rocked. Seems the games to get at launch are..
Kameo
Condemned
PGR3
Oblivion
Not bad, not bad at all. Especially compared to launch history. One really good game is usually about right. These games all sound great.
