"Eight hours with the Xbox 360"

Looks like everyone will be satisfied with the X360 launch, X360 owners will be happy to have some good games and X360 haters will be happy cause the biggest supposed launch game, PDZ, didn't turn out as good.

I'm still getting PDZ at launch because I know it'll be the most popular Live game. I really could care less about the single player aspect of it.

I'm not getting condemned at launch, but its definately looking like something I will buy after the launch games get stale.

I've always been interested in Kameo and it looks like that will be the game that I'll put in my 360 first.

Rigt now its:
1) Kameo - I'm just so excited to try it out
2) PGR3 - for Live
3) PDZ - for Live
4) Oblivion - to own me/piss off my wife

We came from all over the country, and represented several gaming sites, including Gamespot, IGN, Xboxaddict, xbox365, Gamespy, Playstation, and Nintendo.

That bastard. There should've been a GAF mention in there...

Either way, I'm in awe of how much he wrote. I'm thinking this was the guy who was walking around taking notes in a spiral notebook. Sorry guys but I'm just not that dedicated.

I'm gonna agree, and hope that MS issues a 6 month delay on PDZ. With that extra development time Rare could really do a lot to the game. We've been waiting so long for it, another 6 or 7 months won't hurt.

Just look at what happened with Crimson Skies on Xbox. It was pretty ugly and medicore until a delay and refocusing from the devs helped turn it into one of the best looking and playing games (imo) on the Xbox.

Delay PDZ Microsoft! Don't rush it out the door for the sake of hitting the launch window.

You'll get bad PR for a delay, but if it helps the game become a AAA title, it'll be worth it.

Excellent impressions :)

It was written in the code that every day at 3 pm, Man 1 would rake leaves and Man 2 would sweep. This all seemed fine and dandy until the devs gave Man 1 the broom and Man 2 the rake. Man 1 ended up killing Man 2 so he could get his rake so he could do what he wanted. That’s pretty cool if you ask me.

:lol Oh Oblivion dearest...I pray we can be together soon

Ha ha ha ha great impressions! Damn I'm really suprised at seeing Kameo being received so well. Don't get me wrong, I love platformers but its really wowing the media.

OBLIVION ROCKS, OF COURSE
There are so many sliders (I’m not sure, but I’d guess at least 100, perhaps more) that messing up one can lead to drastic effects on the face that are really hard to fix without starting over, so be careful.

Microsoft might as well push PDZ out the door. They already know Wolfenstein is going to bitch slap the competition out of the gate.

In the words of Marv Albert,

YEESSSSSSS!!!

I really hope they addressed the respawn issue in CoD2.

I didn't notice it so much in CoD, but it is pretty bad in some missions in CoD: UO.

You have to advance with your company, and clear the way by shooting several Nazis.... but then right as you kill the last one, all of them respawn and run back to their positions. You could sit there and kill dozens of them all day and never make progress. You just have to kill a couple and roll through the sea of bullets coming your way and hope you can dive behind cover in time to trigger the next scripted event where the enemies despawn and your company moves up.

In fact, I actually witnessed them spawning and despawning out of thin air (3rd American mission in CoD: UO).

Hitler's new weapon: teleporting Nazis.

I can't wait for both FEAR and Condemned now. Both use the same engine, though FEAR is the faster game and Condemned is the "slower" game.

Yeah. Condemned has pretty much joined my list of must own titles for x360 now. I wanted to keep it at 3, but now it looks like i'll be picking up pgr3, kameo, doa4, and condemned all at launch =(

One thing is odd.

PDZ is supposed to be Microsoft big game at X360 but they didn't have it at the limelight at this show. They showed Kameo first and PGR3 seemed to be next. So it means a couple things to me:

1) MS is holding back PDZ footage for a surprise at launch

2) The game is only mediocre and MS knows it so they aren't pushing it anymore

3) The game is unfinished and may not make launch

I'm starting to think it may be number 3. I'm hoping it is number 3. If RARE needs another 6 months to get the game done, give it to them! I'd rather have a AAA experience in April/May 2006 than a half finished game in November 2005. Plus PDZ could have its own limelight by being the game to help push Xbox 360 post Xmas.

How about number 4?

MS knows their demographic wouldn't be caught dead buying Kameo based on it's looks, so they have to try and push it as much as possible.

A few of the other weapons we saw in the selection menu were the S-Dragon, the laptop gun, an uzi, and a combat shotgun. Overall the graphics were solid though there were the occasional framerate hiccups. The controls remained tight, the reload animations very flashy, and the sounds immersive. This launch title is definitely looking to be a first rate game, we'll have more as it comes. - IGN

Perfect Dark Zero really has come a long way since we saw it at E3, and it looks great. We look forward to bringing you more information on the game just as soon as we get our hands on a more finished version. - Gamespot

Perfect Dark Zero may not be anywhere close to a Halo in the making, but any way you look at it, the game is shaping up to be a true killer app. As if the Hong Kong rooftop and car garage levels we saw at X05 weren't evidence enough, seeing these new areas in Perfect Dark Zero has convinced us that Joanna definitely has what it takes to carry the 360 launch next month.

It's not Halo, among other assorted compliants. Random, lucky forum poster

The result, GAF whining again. You guys emotions change more than my fuckin wife. Once I saw the comparison to Halo, I knew to discredit it. It's not Halo, Perfect Dark on the N64 didn't play like Halo. If this plays the the N64 version, I'm in heaven. Battlefield 2 doesn't play like Halo 2. Is it fun as fuck, hell yeah. Can this game please stand on it's own fuckin merits. Even so, it seems as it people have had an agenda against this game from the get-go. It's quite pathetic. The Halo franchise is the best at what it does, but that doesn't mean every other game should be discredited as a result. Waah, you can't jump. You couldn't jump in either Goldeneye or Perfect Dark and it didn't stop either from the being the shit. Previews are nice, but I don't let them decide on a game for me. I'd suggest you do the same.

I frankly think the 360 is better off not being tied to a launch FPS. Then when Halo (the genre king) does come along, people will already have some other favorite Xbox titles.

Well, as a fan. I'm just glad that PDZ is finally seeing the light of day. There are other games coming out that adds to the luster of the console. It has EA in full force with 3 of the world's top 5 selling franchises. It's just that a lot of the PDZ complaints come off as nitpicking or bitching. The non jumping reminds me of the arguments of the auto-jump in Zelda. If that is how the game is designed, it's just designed that way. Don't fault it because it doesn't fit what you want it to be. Just like people complaining about the AI or the directional arrows on the ground when it's been established time after time that the game was on lower settings. I've seen people complain about her attire. I mean damn, just let the game stand on it's own. That's all I want

I hope Microsoft doesn't force Rare to released a half-assed PDZ.

If it needs a delay, DELAY IT DAMN IT.

We've waited 5 years, another 6 months won't hurt.
I posted these statements @ Team Xbox forums:

I agree that it would probably be in the best interests of everyone (MS , Rare, gamers, etc.) if PDZ were given the time it needs to be completed to almost perfection ... I mean,
#1: it seems there is already a great FPS ready for launch (CoD2) ....
#2: as you state, Cerrius, and others have stated in the past, some people have been waiting around half a decade for the next Perfect Dark game .. another few months would not be disastrous, IMO ....
#3: it's not like the game couldn't benefit from the time . i.e.:
Currently the game allows for a maximum of 32 players, a number that has tumbled from the first-mooted 64 to 50..."We had to settle on this number to get PDZ finished in a compressed time frame."

when people say things like, "it's no Halo", I believe they aren't necessarily referring to gameplay mechanics .. I believe they are referring to what Halo represents; a killer app / system seller / AAA+ title .... a title like Halo sells systems.. some people bought Xbox so they could play Halo ......... is PD0 in the same league as Halo in this way? as the poster of the impressions write-up that this thread pointed to alluded to, it may have the potential to be, but it may need more time to achieve 'Halo status' i.e.: killer app / system seller / AAA+ title status .....

Wow, those impressions rocked. Seems the games to get at launch are..

Kameo
Condemned
PGR3
Oblivion

Not bad, not bad at all. Especially compared to launch history. One really good game is usually about right. These games all sound great.

Hey those are my launch games*!! :D

*well except Oblivion, which is now delayed slightly.

Great impressions for Condemned, which I was slightly worried about, but after reading all that, I'm sure it's gonna be something special. :)

Can't wait for Condemned: Criminal Origin. It'll probably be the no.1 game for me when Xbox 360 is released..

X360 has a very solid launch lineup. I don't remember a launch lineup this good in recent memory.

Day 1:
PD0
Condemnded

Shortly after:
Oblivion
