Electro Plankton for DS

The third bubble also appears to have a bunch of videos of people playing what I assume to be different levels of the game, or at least different characters. GAF is awesome for bringing shit like this to attention; even though I'm not exactly sure what the hell is going on in most of the Flash videos, I want it.

Yeah the 5th video with the two chefs is pretty damn cool -- the whole recording of the sounds you make thing seems mostly ignored except in that video. The sixth has at least two super cute school girls (cant see the third sadly) so that's a winner too!

Yeah, it's more art than game (seemingly)

I dig that. Artist and all.

Anyway, this thing would make a neat little trip toy, too! :D

Awesome, this just jumped up to the #1 spot on my most anticipated games. The guys here at the museum are gonna go apeshit over this one.

Wow, this game is pure genious.

finally we get some stuff the DS is meant for - no FPS shooters for me! Give me some artsy-fartsy shit that traditional gamers will hate on!!

Perrin Kaplan mentions Electroplankton in the Nintendo Minute at IGN this week (don't bother looking, it's not interesting). She says it's name may sound funny (along with Nintendogs), but so did other names like Donkey kong once.

Probably not much, but I had NO hope of this game coming over before, the fact that someone from NOA would mention it (hell, the fact that they're aware of it) gives me the tiniest sliver.

That looks freakin awesome.

It might be art, but its still a game. You still play with it.
And it looks like it might be a lot of fun to play with indeed.
It's so bizarre! The video on the site just raised the profile of this thing x 1,000,000 for me

Wow, now that is just awesome. This industry needs to foster artists' visions to make for some variation. This is a really cool blend of art and game. I for one am definitely going to be looking into picking it up.

man this looks really nice on my desktop, i'm gonna stick with this one for a while.

I'm more intrigued by this than any other DS title. I'm growing tired of games such as Yoshi and Kirby. Rather, I'm glad Nintendo is at least trying to give us something new for the DS.

From the little Japanese that I understand, it appears everyone in that video say the game is amazing multiple times while playing it.

Would you really expect them to say otherwise? Or be less than mildly enthusiastic?

Since they probably didn't even make it themselves.

i like how expanded and varied the first party lineup has become over the years with so many new franchises ;)

Wow, I already almost counted Nintendo out, but they really have it going on with the DS - delivering really unique game experiences.

Electroplankton is Super Stylish. Original Wipeout style stylish. More stylish than Lumines. I love even the name, sounds cool to say it. Electroplankton. Electroplankton. The box art is kick-ass, too.

Huge props to NCL. NOA, NOE - take notice, again!

Wow this really does look very interesting. I really liked the video of the two chefs tapping on the table etc.

Hmm could be the one game to make me get a DS.

Your trolling is absolutely brazen, Deg. You are truly baiting for responses at this stage. Stop going into threads about games and companies you have obviously no interest in to simply bash - the consistency and focus with which you are doing this is undeniable now.

Though I'm tempted to just completely ignore you, I'll address your point: find me a large publisher today that doesn't exploit existing franchises and focusses almost entirely on new IP. You bitch about Nintendo's use of successful existing franchises, yet seemingly fail to realise that this is standard industry practice.

But to be honest, I'm tired of your predictable posting patterns and henceforth am simply going to ignore you. Do Not Feed The Trolls was never more appropriate..

100% agreed. If I would be mod I would have done the move already. Dunno if Deg is under special protection like MAF - although MAF is actually funny.

I understand that he is making a parody of the cynical and over-critical attitudes GAF posters have towards anything in the gaming industry - "everything sucks, Nintendo will never change etc.". That parody has been delivered already, re-run, then re-run again. Enough already.

Well i'll stay away then. I guess i've said enough. Funny how people react however. I've never gone in and trolled as they are valid points. I know some of what i say is rather uncomfortable for fans and i understand that would cause hatred.

Point of me posting in this thread was just the sheer coincidence of whats being said by Nintendo and then this game announcement. Its hard not to miss.

I bought SimTunes when it was cheap, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. This game has similar ideas from it, but seem to have less creatures to use. However, this style is just very artistic in a way that I enjoy. I'll gladly look at this title and see if it succeeds at my expectations.

I hope that the DS keeps growing as a system where developers feel free to just fuck around. Stuff like this is a really nice change of pace from the staple genres of the industry, as much as I love them. Ideally, Nintendo would start up a low cost NDS developer program, because I have a feeling that a lot of people would love to create software for this thing if they could only afford it. I certainly know that I would.

As promised. BUmping this thread up. Got round to watching the GDC event today (I'd downloaded it but I haven't had time to watch it cause of work). WOW. TOTALLY FUCKING RAD. Fucking ROXXOR and awesome. Can't wait for this title.

I can't believe this title is being made. I think it just validated the existense of DS and makes all the other DS devs (especially UBISUCK look like shit)

and when Bill Trinden went "who's your daddy"... "Nintendo" ... ROFFLES. :lol :lol

I don't think it's fair to compare this to other DS devs "traditional" games. By Nintendo's own classification Electro Plankton is NOT a game. It's more of a fun looking application. It will be fun to interact with, but I think the focus is decidedly different from what most devs are doing - which is to say, most devs are making games.
