He was basically Michael Jackson before Michael Jackson. He realized that it's not just about the beat or the lyrics. The onstage performance and the persona surrounding it can be just as much of a draw and can sell just as many tickets.

Many people tried it before him and many people adopted it after him, but all of the major stars regardless of genre whose main draw is their stage performance can trace their ancestry Elvis shaking those hips and swinging those arms on stage.

This looks... rough.

Casting... rough.

Story... rough.

It's like they couldn't decide whether to make it true to events and a retelling / remake of his life, or to add garbage tier conjecture and story that probably didn't exist to make it more "thrilling".

Rougghhhhhhhh.

Just my .02, of course.

This trailer doesn't sell it, but the other trailers looked great! I'll check it out when it's streaming on a service I already have.

Saw it on the front page of streamio and decided to watch it, the movie is an uneven experience. There are weird parts where they put new music in and it doesn't fit, and editing is strange, it feels like a goofy Netflix documentary at parts. There are legitimately good points in the film and the material seems somewhat well researched, but the editing and tone is all off.

This is streaming on HBO Max now in 4K Dolby Vision with Atmos. It’s great. Took me a while to realize David Wenham (Faramir) was in it. Loved how they ended it with real footage of one Elvis’ final shows and Unchained Melody.

Editing is just Baz Luhrmann’s style (see Moulin Rouge).

I agree the modern music didn’t fit. Almost as if WB forced that in.

It’s not footage from one of his final shows, it’s footage from his final concert, it was about five weeks before he died.
