another week another rise in the ratings.

Looking at the Nielsen numbers, “Empire” averaged a best-yet 4.6 rating/14 share in adults 18-49 and 11.5 million viewers overall, building on its “American Idol” lead-in (3.0/10 in 18-49, 10.9 million viewers overall) by more than 50% in the demo and standing as Wednesday’s top program in just about everything from teens 12-17 (2.6/12) to adults 25-54 (5.1/13) as well as total viewers.

In total viewers, it has set a series high with each episode since its premiere: 9.9 million, 10.3 million, 11.1 million, 11. 4 million and now 11.5 million. And in adults 18-49, it has hit three highs since its opener: 3.8, 4.0, 4.4, 4.3 and now 4.6.

I ain't no spotify expert (barely use it) so can anybody explain why every empire playlist shows empty for me? even weirder the link posted above shows me the song but they're all greyed out :(
 
Porcha won me over big time this episode. Her reaction to Ti's pictures leaking was so priceless. :lol

Also, it's laughable that the show is trying to make it seem like Jamal has the better song. Drip Drop (dumb name) would probably break the top 10 irl.

That whole exchange about mathematical perspectives and trigonometry is possibly the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life.
 
I wasn't a fan of Cookie initially but damn Taraji brought it this episode. I went from not caring about her to seeing Cookie as the backbone of the show. So many oh shit moments.


And wow the music was really good this ep.
 
Just watched the episode am I'm still laughing at Luscious just there randomly painting on a hoe like his ALS wasn't gonna act up. This nigga is head of the company why is he painting a random video hoe.

This show got's Lions, a Gorilla and a Cookie Monster! Really glad it is doing better ratings wise than American Idol!

Man, just watched the Pilot and Cookie annoys the fuck out of me, acting like New York interrupting the board meeting, and pretending that loaning money has anything to do with building an empire. Just take your 3 million a year and get out.

Of course, I assume she's going to turn out to be worth shit in future episodes, but she is just grating on every last nerve in this first one. This shit is like Sykler all over again, complete with the husband having a fatal disease.

Cookie did more than just loan Lucius 400k (which, seeing as that was the seed money used to build the empire, actually is a huge deal)...

(Minor spoiler, I guess)
you see over the next few episodes that she also functioned as Lucius' producer and had a hand in most of his early music. She was basically the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to Lucius' Janet
 
Few thoughts after watching the first three episodes.

Cookie is so damn fine. Goddamn.

It's good to see Terence Howard back in work. He's a fantastic actor and makes this show a real joy to watch.

I don't much care for Hakeem. He's far too arrogant and not worthy of the push he's getting from Lucious.

I do like Jamal though, but come on at the end of episode 3. That was some Sunset Beach shit. Looking directly into the camera? No...just no.

What the hell at Lucious putting him in the trash during one of the flashbacks. What the fuck?

Cookie - good god almighty.

Unsure what to think of Andre, but his wife is certainly a sly one. She needs to feature a lot more. The scene where she grabs his junk to calm him down was hilarious.

Pretty great so far, will definitely be sticking with this, but I do hope it doesn't descend into trashy soap opera territory.
