Id like to know how stupid you actually have to be to think MG:A tanked....

It sold to more than 1:10 PSP owners. MGS3 sold at a much lower system to game ratio. I just don't get how people can honestly think Konami expected a 1:2 or 1:5 ratio for a stategic card game, nor do I have any doubt those who are saying bomb are indeed braindead.

My predictions were:

1 Metal Gear Solid 3 PS2 550k
2 Tales Of Rebirth PS2 500k
3 Dragon Quest VIII PS2 120k
4 Daito Pachislot PS2 85k
5 Gundam vs Z Gundam PS2 75k
6 Sawaru DS 70k
7 Mario 64 DS 65k
8 Mario Party 6 GC 65k
9 Dynasty Warriors PSP 60k
10 Super Robot Wars GC 55k

Hmmmm... I'm quite disappointed by both MGS3 and TOR sales actually, based on what they did first day I'd expect more than they did. MGS3 won't do a million in Japan, it needed to beat MGS2's first week by a good 100k+ to stand a chance. Ah well.

Nice to see DK:JB did god numbers, this is why the daily numbers should be taken as a very rough guide only. Donkey Konga only did about 60k first week last year, and went on to do about 400k, so there's hope for it doing well yet...

MGA tanked because it is a high profile franchise being released during a handheld launch when only two others hit 80k-110k. MGA could have done a lot better, but it didn't. I think it could be the Pokemon Dash of the PSP.

But Pokemon Dash has done 100k in 2 weeks :-P

So its confirmed the DS sold 220k this week? DAMN!!!! Nintendo has to be pleased!

Nice and for once quite good for everybody software sales wise. Next week numbers should be interesting.

Oh, and I want Wario Ware Touched! and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat to do much, much better! Go original concepts!

Youre an idiot. Sorry. Has to be said. Pokemon Dash sold at a 1:10 ratio with DS games. Minna No Golf and Ridge are both beloved franchises in Japan, and sold at 1:5 ratios. Contrary to misheld beliefs (and to recent MGS3 sales) MG hasn't always been the behemoth it is in the west. Frankly I am shocked it sold 24k its first week.

BTW: MGA is _NOT_ a high profile title in Japan. While getting respect from Famitsu, it has received nearly no advertising. The two games with the biggest amount of press (Ridge and Mingol) are the best sellers.

I am not sure if you know what "Orientalism" is, but it seems to me you are one of the people on GAF who have some kinda skewed "gamer orientalism".

Prince of Tennis - a Shonen Jump sports manga/anime I've recently become addicted to.

Never thought I'd love a sports anime. :)

What about that football manga/anime that Nintendo recently aquired? Is that any good?

Just started the search for it....it seems fairly new as I can only find two volumes of the manga so far. I wonder what the hook is on that one? Straight American Football or something odder?

EDIT: correction - 3 volumes
Info here

It's always something odder in the manga world.

But the covers did make it look crazy. Like football players with claws on their hand and stuff. Weird.

It seems there was a 30min mini-movie at Jump Fest, and a TV series coming soon.

Well, I just hope Nintendo can make something awesome out of it.

They almost never fail me, so I'm not worried :)

Nintendo anime based American Footlball could be truly bizarre. Supposedly the Cube and the DS is due a version.

I've pre-ordered the DS version of Prince of Tennis: Crystal Drive 2005 after playing the 2004 GBA game. Dec 30th cannot come soon enough.

Oh, and I realize that, and I know MG wasn't always such a big, big franchise. I think Pokemon Dash could have sold about 150k about now, and MGA could have sold about 48k. In my mind, they underperformed.

BTW: MGA is _NOT_ a high profile title in Japan. While getting respect from Famitsu, it has received nearly no advertising. The two games with the biggest amount of press (Ridge and Mingol) are the best sellers.

Has never stopped games before there. I just would have thought if MGS 3 did so damn well in one week, MGA would have put up better numbers.

Okay, and why is this important?
