Ok episode, but as expected, Trek still has trouble meaitaining story and entertainment with 2 and 3-parters. Maybe they can get it right by episode 3. :)

It seems as though the ending is going to be pretty predictable. I'm guessing it's one of those stories where the villain is really good at heart, and while his creations/henchmen start going of the deep end, he works to stop them from doing whatever massively evil deed they plotted behind his back. At the end, Archer and he will be looking at each other across viewscreens, as things start blowing up around Soong and he makes some poignant quote. Then again, I could be way off.

Nah, they wont kill off Soong. It'll give them a chance to bring Spiner back once ratings start to sag again.

Then perhaps they'll have the explosions and stuff, but a mysterious survival that isn't revealed until they need him again. ;)

Edit: I actually missed the first 3/4 of the first episode in the arc, so I have a couple quick questions. Soong himself isn't an augment, but just admired them so much that he swiped them from that research station and raised them right? Since they have no blood relation to him, that means he still has to have descendents somewhere along the way to Noonien Soong, or did he already?

My friend wants them to have the augments create
the smooth headed Kilingons
. It might actually create some continuity.

They can't kill off Soong. Data would never happen then.

Who's to say that Soong doesn't have a son somewhere. Or who's to say the this Soong doesn't have a bother who is the direct decendent of the Soong that creats Data.

They've already stated that this Soong is the great grandfather of Data's creator. They used that to hype the episode before it aired.

Oh, and expect Shatner to show up in time for February or May sweeps. :p

I heard that fell through because Shatner wanted too much money. Also it still doesn't preclude Soong from having a child somewhere.

But Shatner is priceless!

They should come across a Voyager Probe that had Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds playing that Kirk's great, great, granddaddy who worked at Nasa reporgrammed for a laugh....enters Romulan space and interfaces with their orbital defence grid beaming down supercharged high pitch redition that kills half of Romulas and starts the great conflict and the nutral zone.
