Go has a lot of mathematics underlying its strategy, though it's not immediately obvious on your first game. I started playing this summer, and it's pretty addictive. These days I spend at least a couple of hours a week studying strategy (especially tsumego, or life-and-death problems), and it works out an area of the brain I hadn't used regularly since taking calculus in college.

Quite a lot of modern board games involve some element of mathematical reasoning, though more often than not it's a full-blown mental workout. Puerto Rico would (obviously) be a recommendation there, as everywhere. :)

Also, have you considered Bridge?
