Been playing REDACTED for about a half hour, and I really like it! It's a roguelike, and the upgrades you can get both in your run and in the meta are immediately noticeably powerful. Makes it rewarding whereas I've played some roguelikes where the upgrades are "+1% chance to do +5% frost damage when under 10% health" or whatever.

The gameplay is really fun, too. Good mix of ranged and melee combat.

Apparently it's in the same universe as Calisto Protocol? Glad to hear it's better.

you don't really no.

but some games have windows that pop up before you get in game. in those cases game mode can have issues.

to check if this happens you gotta press rhe Steam button, and in the side bar where you can close the game and stuff, all the way down should be a "Window" selector if multiple windows are open for this game.

This game is giving me the MS C++ runtime error and won’t run. Any advice?

The winetricks in heroic worked after installing vcrun2022, however now I can’t seem to find a controller layout that works. Game launches though.

does it not work with normal Xbox inputs?

are you launching it in game mode or desktop mode?
either way, look if steam input is enabled in the game's properties.

I’ve tried both. The game launches but the menu screen says the game is better with a controller. Like it doesn’t recognize anything.

I just installed it to maybe replicate the issue and see if I can find a solution...

but for me the controller support works out of the box when playing in Game Mode

I'm using Proton 9.0 Beta and let Heroic Launcher apply Protontricks settings automatically.
worked basically out of the box. I installed it in Desktop mode, started it once to make sure I get all the EULA shit and Epic account stuff done, and then closed the game and went back to Game Mode, where it instantly defaulted to controller inputs.

Hmmm. I can’t even get past the menu screen. I’ll try that proton. I think I’m using 9.0.4 right now.

And do people actually buy these games at $20-$40 a pop? My conspiracy theory is that the games just poof into existence when Epic puts them up for free.

Yeah, I tried to remember to check every day but missed one with everything going on. I ended up there for every repeat, but missed Kill Knight. It actually looks good too...ah well.

Hell Let Loose is an Excellent game. However, it does takes some time to learn the game mechanics and vehicle controls. Really have to know your rolls because Squad Leaders and team Commander will call you out for it at times if you're not paying attention. I highly recommend watching some YouTube tutorials before deploying to the front.

How is Hell Let Loose just 30 GB, with a 50 v 50 mode and 5+ maps?

Game runs really well I hope. Made on UE4.

IW and Raven Software, you morons, learn from these devs on how not to make a convoluted mess of a launcher, with in-app downloads in the 100's of GB's.

For anyone that has issues with getting the Epic version of [Redacted] to work on Steam Deck . . .

1. In heroic, go to wine management and install wine-ge-latest
2. Click to install the game, but expand wine options and make sure it’s set to use wine-ge-latest
3. Go to winetricks and install the vs c++ redist. I did the 2022 one.
4. The game should successfully launch from heroic, but go to the epic page it’s trying to load. It’s the EULA.
5. After that, if the game defaults to mouse and keyboard, hold start and select while in game to switch to gamepad mode
6. Hit the add to steam game option in heroic to play the non-steam game in game mode.
