That's my 10 (well, 11 or 12)... everything listed is free!
If you have some money, Trillian Pro is well worth the $25.

-Go back to a few hours earlier or to DAYS earlier
-install programs in an safe install mode where you can then verify if you everthing works then choose to save or revert back to your computers' status before the install.

Awesome, awesome product.

Spyware Blaster
Hijack This

Bit Torrent Client

*Do Not* install any media player updates if your copy of XP is not legit. Thank me later.

Yea, that's how they monitor for XP piracy. The BSA will get you, if MS doesn't.

Firefox
Agent Newsreader
Ad Muncher
Ultr@VNC
MultiRes
Microsoft Office Suite
ACDSee
Spybot S&D
Media Player Classic
PowerDVD
and, um...Gator*

I'm sure there's some other ones I'm forgetting...

*Please god, don't install Gator.

Better still, don't use Windows Media Player at all - there's far better, less resource intense, more intuitive free options out there.

Such as?

And the version of XP I'm getting is an Education version of XP Pro that doesn't require activation but can still be updated

I like Windows Media Player Classic. Use it for almost every video format except for a couple of streaming videos like quicktime.
