GM: One thing DS enthusiasts have been wondering about is if whether or not Europa Universalis II will utilize Nintendo’s coming Wi-Fi online multiplayer game service. If it isn’t, why was it decided not to include the feature? Can we expect some form of wireless multiplayer?

GR: We intend to provide wireless support on the Nintendo DS version, permitting the DS to attach to a desktop PC acting as the game host. This support will also be available on the PDA versions, with all platforms interacting seamlessly.

Hey, that it pretty neat. Assuming that mean what I think it does.

Thanks for sending some of GAF's questions along.

He was a little evasive in some areas, but it sounds like they're committed to getting as close to a 100% port as possible.

Yeah, he was really evasive about the AI issue, which was my question too.

I think this tends to indicate it will take a hit, just because a developer that's committed to an identical AI or even an improved AI will never say what he said. He simply avoided saying the obvious by mentioning its too early.

That said, I do hope he is right and that the AI will not be so crippled that PC players will feel a big difference once they jump into the DS version.

This is on my list still.

I've not play it, but I assume it's turn based so if they wanted to, it could just take more time to figure out the opponents moves. There might even be ways to do some of the processing in the background while that player is playing. I'd say he was evasive not because there's no chance of the AI being equivalent, but because they'll be needing to do some radical changes to the way it works and they simply just aren't sure how it'll be turning out as of now.
