European constitution on the back burner

From the start, we knew Netherland would vote 'NO' as will do the UK. They are not against the EU constitution but rather against the Europe idea as a whole.

As for France, it was a massive rejection of the government. No government should organize a public vote when its reputation is so low, even if the question has no relation with it.

Actually if you had followed closely what happened in France you could clearly see that things aren't that way. French people bought hundrends of thousants of copies of the EU constitution and they have been debating about it for months. It's a lot more than a rejection to their current goverment, it's a rejection to what the neoliberal politicians are trying to pass through the EU constitution.

That is not true. The French government sent hundred of thousands of copies to the peaople, that is a pretty big difference.

It's a lot more than a rejection to their current goverment, it's a rejection to what the neoliberal politicians are trying to pass through the EU constitution.

You are assuming too much.

The reasons why people voted NO were mainly related to the french internal (both political and economical) situation. That is also why the last two days (after the vote) is only about internal political changes.
