Even more spyware problems...

Okay, I know how much IE sucks, but the problem is my dad uses it and refuses to use anything else.

Now I have all the popular spyware checkers. AdAware SE, Spybot, CWShreeder... nothing. But IE is just slow as hell for no apparent reason. I got Spyware Doctor, which found some stuff the others didn't, but it still didn't help the problem.

Any other great spyware programs I might not know?

Why does he refuse to use something else? It's not like using another browser involves much to learn. Tell him to get with the times. The only way to easily avoid that crap is to get away from IE.

using another browser doesn't do jack shit.

I'm getting just as much spyware with FireFox as I did with IE.

I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit unless you got no Spyware with IE.

Removing spyware already installed on your computer might help.

I might not be very knowledgable about the internal parts of a computer, but I'm not a fucking retard, Hito. I know software, and I know how to rip stuff out of the PC.

The fact remains that since I've switched to FireFox, I'm getting just as much spyware.

No. Clean up the spyware that was in your pc first. Firefox is currenly invulnerable to spywares.

Do you think I'm retarded too? I cleaned it all off before I ever installed FireFox over a month ago. I'm telling you, I cleaned that shit with 3 different programs.

I'm still getting stuff, and it's not stuff that was getting picked up before I got FireFox.

I'm not hating on FireFox. The program is fantastic, and I use it all the friggin time. I'm still getting spyware with it though.

I put FireFox on shortly after I got the PC, so you aren't too far off. I wasn't ever getting anything like this WinAdTools and WinRachet that have been plaguing my system the past week and a half or so.

Since moving to Firefox IE toolbars have been installed, CWS shit, and the above mentioned stuff.

Unless by "cleaned it all off" you mean "I formatted my hard drive, reinstalled XP w/updates, installed FireFox, and never touched IE," then you have no way of knowing that you're clean. Spyware is like a rootkit--once it's in the only surefire way to zap it is to reinstall. Frankly, it's more likely that you missed something that left you wide open. The only other option is that you 1) downloaded a malicious XPI, 2) added the installer URL to your XPI install list, and 3) were still stupid enough to click "Yes" when prompted to install.

i call bullshit on that, you are probably installing kazaa or some other p2p program and getting spyware from that. firefox will not help if you intentionally download programs full of spyware

call bullshit all you want. No P2P programs on here other than Azureus and mIRC. I check my PC twice a week for spyware.

That's right, hit a small problem with a nuke.

I've never even been prompted for any XPI installer stuff. I'm really not an idiot when it comes to this shit.

FireFox is great, but I'm still getting spyware. I have no idea where it's coming from, either. There's no shady programs installed on this PC or anything.

My point is that switching browsers did nothing for me. When I had IE, I'd very rarely pick something up, and when I did, it was always tracking cookies. I've been using FireFox for a long time now, and I still get spyware.

I don't know why it's still coming, but I know how to use a PC very well. I'm not one to do anything stupid like that.

?!

Azureus and mIRC are all I have installed on my system.

Actually, I'm going to leave it at that. It's apparant I'm getting it from somewhere. I'm not sure where.
