Ever seen a Hyundai Comboy 64?

I didn't even know Hyundai ever made electronics.
All the "chaebol"s in SK basically dabble with everything. There's "Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance" for example. It's not unlike the mob. Well, it pretty much is like the mob, and all in the family. But legalized, as long as they don't get too cocky or break too many laws, it's all good.

Yep, just look at Samsung. Breaking laws is ok as long as you pay off the right people.

In a way, it's kinda respectable innit? None of all this hiding things behind shell companies and lobbying like in the West, just a rather public "fuck you and what are you going to do about it" kind of thing. The cyberpunk part of me appreciates.

Yep, Korean chaebols are like I always thought about Cyberpunk MegaCorps, except with less spec ops and gun running (since they manufacture weapons as well).

No but based on the people driving them I've seen a few Hyundai Femboy

Bro saw a word that ended in boy and his mind went straight to femboy

Hyundai had electronics department, but I don't think they did well. I do remember they had some computer division and TV division - but all went down except memory manufacturing part, which separated from Hyundai Electronics... which was called Hynix. Then Hynix got bought by another big Jaebeol group called SK - and it became SK Hynix (dram producer) that we know of.

They were official licensed Nintendo console importer - so they imported SNES too. I think that was called Super Comboy, but pronounced like Super cum boy...

And Samsung was official licensed Sega console importer. Gam boy (Master System) and Super Gam boy (Megadrive) - Gam is shortend pronounced version of a "game" in korean- then later changed the name to Super Aladin Boy... (probably due to obvious reason that it sounds like "Game Boy".

Back from the days when anything Japanese was too icky for Korean consumers. Anime, manga & Video games.
Some products like consoles were rebranded to bypass the bans, which started to get relaxed in 1998.
As the Wikipedia article you linked to says, it wasn't only because "too icky". There were legitimate, historical, reasons why Japanese culture was shunned. "Let bygones be bygones" and all that, but these things take time.
