And I'm sick and tired of Coldplay this, Coldplay that. RADIOHEAD is the UK's most groundbreaking band since Pink Floyd and that will never ever change. They've made their mark and it is permanent. Coldplay is a very "now" kind of band. Radiohead is timeless.

Um, didn't you start a huge Coldplay love fest thread shortly after A Rush of Blood's release?

And as amazing as Radiohead is, I feel that Blur is more revolutionary than Radiohead could ever hope to be.

OH, COLDPLAY
By Dag Juhlin

Oh, Coldplay
Just when we’d finally cleared our mind
Of all those sepia-toned pictures of Sting
Under brooding skies
Looking serious and well-read
In a really great sweater.
Here you come.

Enter Coldplay,
Immaculately unshaven
A perfect curling wisp of smoke
In a black and white photo
Of a stylish man
Impatiently checking his expensive watch
Waiting for a phone call
Regarding the latest sales figures.

Sing out, Coldplay.
Your music celebrating only itself
Across a vast landscape
Of sonic frosting
And precisely enticing
Moon fart melody.
The singer does a tentative dance
With all the funkiness
A well-bred Brit can muster
And howls past the furthest rows
Beyond an obliging sky
Through yearning, cracking sinuses…
“I made a song called Yellow.”

There you go, Coldplay.
Sleeker than a hot buttered Jaguar XKG
Racing to the funeral of an enemy.
More dazzling than a $4000 briefcase
Containing but a photo of a baby
In the white, white arms of an actress.
And a Sharpie that can only write
FRANKIE SAY FREE TRADE NOW.

There you are, Coldplay.
Reverberating beige-ly off the walls
Of smart lofts and total rehabs
While melancholy Europeans
Stare moodily into mirrors
On Saturday nights
Getting ready for dates
With liked minded lovers
Of similar wines and books
And musical stylings.
With a furrowed brow,
They pick an errant hair
From their really great sweater
And they are ready to go
At last.

Oh, Coldplay.
If only you rocked.

hehehe :lol

Probably, but is it illegal to change your mind?

Blur, more revolutionary than Radiohead? :lol
Whatever floats your boat, mate.

Hey now. Blue Room EP and Parachutes are very, very good. AROBTTH was decent but you could tell it was the beginning of the end, they were clearly following a formula.

Coldplay did try to branch out and try different things when I saw them live, but they obviously chose the commerical route and never put that on a CD.

X&Y is just a nightmare. I liked it at first but I was kidding myself really. I'd be really surprised if the band makes a comeback from even their second album.

Personally, I think Doves kick Coldplay in the ass. I can say this because they share the same producer. And Lost Souls came out a month before Parachutes did; Coldplay's debut has nothing on it. The Last Broadcast smears A Rush of Blood to the Head all over the floor, and Some Cities destroys X&Y.

To an extent I guess, Doves and Coldplay do share some similarities - after all they do have the same producer. The difference here is with each album Doves tries different approaches to songs (some are straight up jazzy massive attack-ish songs like Calm Before the Storm). Coldplay does not do this. They just play the same 5 reverberated notes over and over and over and over while Chris Martin oooh and ahhh's his way through the songs.

Doves is trying to branch out, Coldplay is sticking to the formula to stay popular. It's not going to last that much longer. Next U2 my ass. Let's see where Coldplay is three albums from now. It will either sound like crap and won't sell, or there won't be one.

SFA are better than Radiohead. Owned.

(So are Blur. Think Tank was 100000X better than Hail to the Thief, and it wasn't even that good [but Hail to the Thief is one of the worst albums I've ever wasted money on, so...].)

Nope, nothing wrong with changing your mind. Just found it somewhat humorous that at one point you were their biggest defender on these boards.

What I appreciate about Blur is just how different they sound from one album to the next. Radiohead is an amazing band, one that I absolutely love, but IN MY OPINION since Amnesiac they've become a pale imitation of themselves. With Blur, The Great Escape/Parklife/Blur/13 is an amazing string of releases.

I sure hope that Radiohead proves me wrong. I really do.

aww, maan. why did you have to do it!? why did you have to respond to his post? :(
Am I missing something? I didn't even realize I was undercutting Radiohead with my post. They deserve to do well, even if their last album was a complete dud.

OK dude, we get it. You didn't like Hail to the Thief.

I don't really think Radiohead are that revolutionary either...they're certainly no Can or Velvet Underground. Although compared to Blur, it's not much of a contest.

Radiohead hasnt released a decent album in years sadly. Here's to hoping the next one lives up to what theyre capable of doing.

I'm one of those strange folk who like Radiohead's last 3 albums more than any of their others. I hardly ever listen to OK Computer or The Bends these days, and HTTT probably gets the most playtime. I hope LP7 continues to keep things fresh for them.

And I take no credit for derailing this thread. :P

Muse is not a person, but a band. :D

Right, but they are mostly one person. I mean dude is doing vocals, guitar and keyboard, jumping from one to the other in the middle of songs.

Not quite. Radiohead is a great band, but they haven't yet matched the brilliance of Joy Division and most likely never will.

Joy Division released two albums then their lead singer killed himself. How is that brilliant?

I don't see what's so bad about HTTT. And I certainly don't think that Think Tank "slays" HTTT.

Blur's recent "string" of releases may be amazing, distant. I don't care if they have 10 albums in a row that are absolutely brilliant, they have nothing on The Bends/OK Computer/Kid A.

Was I one of Coldplay's biggest defenders? Wow.

Radiohead owns Joy Division btw.

Is Kasabian from the UK? I like that 'Clubfoot' tune of theirs but that's all I've ever heard from them.

The whole album is fucking good -- you should check it out. Get to see them live in 19 days supporting oasis and I'm totally stoked about it. :D You might also like The Boxer Rebellion if you enjoy them who I also recommend looking into.

I totally forgot about The Tears, I'll give them a listen (as soon as I get home from work, darn PCs with no soundcards)

I'll pop it on for your sake then. :D It's too bad Bernard's solo stuff was so average.. Brett and he had such a good thing going back then and he left it for nothing essentially.

Dog Man Star is an incredible album, still gives me the chills when I'm listening through my headphones on the way to sleep.
