I brought this up in the official Smash thread for the new one coming out, but basically I was curious if Nintendo is doing anything with the new one to garner to the competitive scene.

The answer in short is no, because there won't be an online ranked mode ala SF4 let's say with pre set rules like the competitive scene uses.

Do you guys feel that if Smash had a solid net code, and a ranked game type that allowed Evo rules for it, that the scene would grow? I can't see why Nintendo wouldn't want to garner to these guys.

I personally would buy a Wii U for the new Smash if it did just that, but as it is it's just a neat game I may watch on stream once in a while.
