Of course they were. MrWizard announced GG Rev2 as an EVO game during the reveal stream, not Rev1. GG being on Saturday was decided during the reveal stream itself. Back in February

The same could be said for any game. Black Adam is one of the most boring characters in any fighter right now and the ceo top 8 black adam mirrors were really hype.

Leaving for Vegas here in a bit!

My Friday backpack is fucking bigger than I am lmao.

Got my arcade stick, Switch, GameCube controller, toolkit, 40oz thermos, portable charger, markers for signatures, aspirin, deodorant, towel, and wipes. Gonna live out of it tomorrow since I want to keep trips back to the room minimal.

Also bringing some nice dress clothes in case the Tekken Casino / Bar Fights are a bit more formal than casual.

Damn, hype is really setting in now. I plan to spend the whole Friday just watching Smash 4 pools. Hoping for a ton of upsets and good performances from lesser used characters.

So, I'm checkin the SFV bracket and I saw Bas it's going? Didn't know he plays V.
Also Tonpy it's in Punks pool.

Don't know if there's a list of notorious players per pool already. If not I'm doing one for me that I'll post (Don't might miss some since I haven't keep up regulary with SFV since before the last evo)

At like 4AM I was playing an hourish set against Poongko while SooA was beating xyzzy and popping off hard every time she landed a round. I'm talking getting up and kicking the air while yelling Juri quotes at him.

Then Infiltration showed up and confirmed he's winning EVO this year.

Earlier had humanbomb and some other dudes like Tse4444 in there.

Hawaii FGC crew rents out a suite for Evo and lots of folks show up. The Korean and Japanese contingent show up every year now.

First few years it was relatively quiet but through a lot introductions, it's gotten popping. I watched Evo finals with Smug and Poongko up there last year, it was way more fun as a result lol.

Fly your ass over here and sleep in their room. You don't need to even step foot in EVO itself. Just come down for the weekend.

Edit: This wasn't even my idea so I want to be clear I'm not the one volunteering their space.

Renta already said that to me, lol. No bueno in any case. Family obligations popped up last week that prevents any last minute trip.

Now the question will be just how many eyes will be glued to this stream? I like to think that if it is more than enough, we might actually see something unreal for EVO 2018: A Dragon Ball Fighting Game featured on a Sunday. Don't know if it would replace BB or Xrd (which either or would replace each other on Suday), but if Arc System works usually gets a Sunday slot, I wouldn't be shocked if an arrangement could be made to put DBFZ center stage to be the first or second game played (While I could guess that Tekken 7, one smash game, MvC:I and SFV would be the other games)

I'll be a little late getting in on Splatfest, but as soon as SFV & 4U Semis ends, I'll be able to break from Evo on Saturday (probably going to be around 8 Central, leaving only 1 hour of Splatfest :( but **** it... game's out next week anyway). But yeah... going to get up early Saturday for a workout (probably going to skate & run) and enjoy the show!

Hmm... think I'll skip the morning DBFZ tournaments to let people get better at the game, then tune in for the afternoon tournaments. Actually, I might even skip the Friday DBFZ streams completely... but then I miss a lot of Marvel pools.

In my mind DBFZ is a lock for Finals Sunday next year. I don't think entrants will top SF5, but I could totally see DBFZ being the #2 game or at least getting close to Smash numbers.

A shame I'm gonna miss most of tomorrow and half of Saturday. Stupid finals getting in the way and by the time I watch the archives for SFV it'll already be too late. Will be checking out all of the DBFZ action though, whenever possible.
