Developer Turtle Rock Studios once conceptualized a sequel. This was recently revealed through 15 pieces of concept art shared on the website of an artist who worked at the studio, which also described new environments the game might have included.

According to the website of TJ Frame, a former artist at Turtle Rock Studios, Evolve 2 began development shortly after the launch of the first game. However, after spending a few months in pre-production, the project was canceled when Turtle Rock shifted focus to other ideas and pitches, one of which eventually became the divisive co-op multiplayer co-op shooter, Back 4 Blood.

The illustrations showcase designs for cities and various ships that, according to the artist, were part of one of the game's envisioned locations, a massive asteroid mining station tentatively named "The Akhenaten." The game also planned to return to Shear, the planet featured in the original title, with more sequentially oriented missions. The city images give a glimpse of the new locations the team intended to introduce to the planet.

Too bad about Evolve, I can still remember the first time I hid in the bushes as a lvl 1 monster and the hunters stood around looking for me and I heard my heart beating. It was kind of cool, too bad the balancing was completely broken.

Evolve was amazing. Intense gameplay, lots of unique characters and monsters, cool maps.

But you should never launch a game at full price ($60 at the time) with loads of microtransactions, even if it's all cosmetic. Reminds me of what MS used to do with Forza and why I ignored that franchise last gen.

Evolve also had a marketing problem. You can't show a game like this at press events where everyone is sitting with each other and it's basically a local lan party type MP experience when the reality is everyone is on their own and a lot don't even have a mic. The actual release requires a ton of communication and teamwork.

They revived the game shortly with Evolve Stage 2, which was a F2P version on PC only. That's how the first game probably should have launched. Free, with loads of cosmetic microtransactions, and then you could also sell the hunters and monsters.

I think I ended up #3 worldwide on the Goliath leaderboard. The #2 guy was great, the #1 guy was absolutely terrible, just played a ton, like more than me and the #2 guy combined.
