Old news but I don't remember it being mentioned before. I just finished the first game recently, and I was blown away. Despite some frustrating parts, it was very enjoyable and special. Are you excited for a new Shovel Knight?

Finally. It's been 10 years since the original Shovel Knight, and aside from the DLC knight expansions that were stretch goals for the initial product, all we have gotten are Pocket Dungeon and Dig (likely enormous flops).

Anyway, internally developed? I would have hoped they worked with Nitrome again, SK Dig looked absolutely fabulous with the 16-bit style colour and detail.

They also have a Link's Awakening'esque game in the pipeline I'm looking forward to.

The og game was too hard for me. If they actually add rewind and save states, it's day one for me.

Those features will be in the remastered ('DX') version of the first game, so they will probably be in the sequel too. The bosses are easy, but there are a lot of challenging platforming sections, so those features will be great to have.

Yes, they are developing it internally. I've added that "Mina" game to my wishlist as well, looks cool.

Both will definitely be worth the wait. My guess is it will be released around late 2026- early 27.

I lost 10,000 gold in the flying section, and the pain is still fresh. It would have definitely been useful for me. Also, if you closed the game without defeating the boss, you'd lose all your progress in that section, which sometimes made me keep playing while cursing the game. I think the platforming elements were a bit tough. I didn't even struggle this much in Hollow Knight's White Palace.

This may shock you, but different people have different strengths and weaknesses. Apparently one of your weaknesses is understanding that fact.

wtf... I always thought the game was really damn easy, especially for a game that was inspired by Mega Man and other NES games...


I even regularly destroyed the checkpoints to get some extra cash because I knew I wouldn't need them 90% of the time.

Was this possible? Wow. I wouldn't take that risk though It was generally easy, yeah, but some sections were really challenging; one was the part where we fly with the leaves, and another was the one with the moving walls. There were about 3-4 places like this where I had to play repeatedly.

I wouldn't say the instant kill platforming segments (pits/spikes) are easy, nor are the boss fights that utilize them (especially the rush toward the end). I certainly would not have minded having rewind in some of those sections. Otherwise yeah it's probably a lot easier on the whole.

I think the difficulty types of the two games are not the same. In Soulslike games, the cumulative mistakes you make lead to failure, but you become a better player by learning from your mistakes. Shadow of the Erdtree was very challenging, so I'll put it aside.

This game, on the other hand, is generally easy, but there are some sections where even the smallest mistake(jumping 1mm too far for example) makes you start over and gets you frustrated. The combat is easy, but the platforming elements can sometimes be unforgiving. Not being able to quit the game whenever you want was a major issue too.

Speedruns might be 40 minutes, but I played for 7-8 hours, and the situations I'm talking about cover a 30 minute to 1 hour period (since I played repeatedly).

I don't care if they release an easy mode for souls games btw. I'm using only melee combat on those games. You can summon everyone and spam magic from 1km away so what do you need more is beyond me(strike back ).
