Do most people consider DC 'this-gen'?

I've never considered it as part of the current generation since it came and went before most of the major players even arrived on the market. To me, DC is like in it's own gen between the 32-bit and the PS2/Xbox/GC.

But I do think X360 is in the same gen as PS3/Rev because they'll be out around the same time and at similar specs. I just wanted to say that I think there can be machines that don't really fit within a generation group like the DC.

To me the DC is a similar case to what the PC-Engine was. First 16 bit system to appear that offered awesome games but wasn't really on the same league than the MegaDrive/SNES (although in some ways I prefer it to the MD).

I'll probably be out of town on the 22nd. I'll have to pick up my preorder and DVIII with FFXII when I get back after Thanksgiving. Damn MS for releasing so close to the Holiday.

BTW, regarding to the topic it's kinda curious the X360 is following THE SAME strategy Dreamcast followed. And this allows Sony to play the old game they played back then. There are so similarities...From the Logo, to the timeline, to RR6 being a Namco exclusive like SC was...I feel Deja Vu...Let's hope by the end of 2k6 the system is still alive.

I can see where Soundwave is coming from, and he is right on a couple points. Like most casuals may not see the launch as next gen until PS3 comes out because of the mind share, and the 32 bit era definitely did'nt start with 3DO.

However, the reality is that the 360 is undoubtedly the true beginning of next gen and has much more popularity and worth at launch than the 3DO ever did, regardless of whether many casuals cannot think outside the PS3 box or not.

I'll be picking up my preordered dragonquest 8 and playing through the FF12 demo when I get it home , followed by maybe starting a game of DQ8. Perhaps in December when I'm slated to recieve my 400 dollar alberta resident bonus I will buy a 360 and Kameo and DOA4.

In the time leading up to that , maybe I'll rent one or play the thing at a friends house, I have atleast 1 friend who'll be buying the system. He says he may wait but I know him, he'll bend his will a week before it comes out and buy it from best buy on his way home from work.
