Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Machine translated article so beware of Engrish.

Pearl Abyss' highly anticipated 'Crimson Desert' is scheduled to be released on November 2nd. Some speculated that the release could be pushed back to 2026, but it will be released as originally planned in the fourth quarter of this year. The release of 'GTA6' was postponed to next year, so attention is focused on whether 'Crimson Desert' will be able to take the GOTY (Game of the Year) award.

According to an interview with Money Today Broadcasting MTN on the 17th, Pearl Abyss has tentatively set the release date for 'Crimson Desert' to November 2nd and is currently in the final stages of development. If there are no changes, this date will be confirmed as the official release date.

'Crimson Desert' is an open-world action adventure game currently under development by Pearl Abyss. Its first development news was announced in 2019. At the time, Pearl Abyss was on a growth trajectory with the success of 'Black Desert Mobile'.

It was originally predicted to be produced as an MMORPG in the vein of 'Black Desert', but the direction was changed to the open-world action adventure genre. Since Pearl Abyss received favorable reviews both domestically and internationally for 'Black Desert', there was also great interest in its next concept, 'Crimson Desert'.
It has been reported that Sony approached Pearl Abyss to secure exclusive distribution rights for 'Crimson Desert', but they did not accept. Anticipation was high, but as development was prolonged, uncertainty persisted, making it difficult to predict the release date.

It was announced at 'The Game Awards' held in Los Angeles, USA in December last year that it would be released around the end of 2025. It was

initially predicted that it would be released around the same time as 'GTA6', which was scheduled to be released in the third quarter of this year, but with the release of 'GTA6' being pushed back to next year, it is evaluated that a release within the year has become 'relievingly' possible.
Regarding this, Pearl Abyss said, "Information related to the release will be disclosed later through official channels."

Among the anticipated releases from domestic companies, Hive IM's 'Architect,' NC's 'Aion 2,' and Netmarble's 'Seven Deadly Sins: Origins' are expected to be released around the same time as 'Crimson Desert.'

Among the games introduced by the domestic industry, this one is likely to have the biggest global impact, and attention is focused on the direction in which this game and Pearl Abyss will unfold.

Hope it's good. Combat looks very nice but I wonder about everything else.

Everything I've seen is about dragons and fire and gameplay. What's my purpose for being in this world, what's my call to action, can someone do a 2-3 sentence pitch of the story hook?

cool, definitely looking forward to this one. Everything they've shown looks almost too good. But based on some previous I read from Summer Games Fest it seems to be the real deal.
Is hoping for a demo unrealistic? I'd like to see how it runs on console,

A game that shows gameplay. Damn.

What's the purpose to play Elden Ring?
Relax I wasn't being facetious, just genuinely can't figure out what the call to action is. The game has a bit of Witcher-vibe due to the medieval setting so maybe that's why I'm looking for a heart-wrenching story, but yeah it could just be an Elden Ring type of game. Still if anyone knows what Kliff is up to in this game and what "navigating a war-torn continent" means, let me know.

Is the engine going to be as garbage as Black Desert with mass pop-ins every time you turn?

The graphics also look way washed out. Looks very generic and bland. Unlike Chrono Odyssey which I'm looking forward to.

How about finding out by playing?

Bro, why is asking for a story pitch so triggering.

The Elden Ring was shattered into Runes and the player reclaims these Runes to restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord. Call to action.

The Steam page of Crimson Desert says:

Kliff's mission is defend Pywel from a catastrophe. Call to action.

It's a bit shit. "Unknown catastrophe" is not very exciting. The gameplay looks awesome, maybe best game ever, but we can chat about the story being a bit shit can't we.

I can't say whether the story is bad or not without having played it.

This is way washed out versus the other footage pieces I saw.

I will be playing on PC so I can use Reshade if need be. I hope the camera can be pushed in just a little bit as well.

Way too many particles and visual effects on the screen at the same time.
Reminds me of Godfall...
"Shiny! More shiny!"
Here is "Particles! Leaves! Sparks! More! More! More!"
Hopefully it's not all style and no substance.

Ive been actively playing their mobile version of the game Black Desert Mobile for 5 years since its launch now... i will say that story is definitely not their strong suit. Curious to see if they put anymore effort into this as its an actual action RPG.

The more time goes on, the less I'm feeling it. We have yet to their open world. They've been showing boss fights for more than a year.
