EXODUS Gameplay Trailer: 'The Traveler's Creed'

Ufff... expected more to be honest. Looks like a janky mobile game with as generic as possible art style and soundtrack. And what's with those bland environments? Is it going to be some randomly generated dungeons only? If they had Citadel, Omega or Illium styled places, I'm quite sure they would have shown them.

Edit: I mean comparing those environments to these from ~15 years ago:

Color me interested. The default main character looks a little retarded but if there's a character creator that problem is solved. My Shepard was never the default.

A Male main character
Did they forgot to undergo DEI training ?

Very excited for this. They already have a ton of lore and a 1000page book out lol
I'm betting that the female companion they showed will be a strong woman, and also lesbian.

Looks kind of interesting, but will keep expectations in check. (Both positive and negative.)

Some good people working on this, I don't know tho, visually it looks a little off, like it could be a PS4 game . Not overly impressed I have to be honest.

if you want to make a game like this that doesn't cost $200 million and 7 years you need to accept concessions on character models etc

Alright, I'm curious, this looks promising. But I'll need to see more to be convinced.

Maybe it's just me but I'm seriously not digging the art direction. Also going all the way to space only to find talking earth animals and fight some sort of augmented bear doesn't exactly scream creativity.

I'm interested even if the art-style is a bit bland. I hope it ends up being good.

I could use another sci-fi epic that's not Mass Effect especially since I don't trust Bioware anymore with that IP.

After reading the book I really like the universe, its got some really great ideas. I actually like the awakened animals even if their somewhat underutilized in the books, Why would you not want a Police Dog that was smarter and would understand what a gun is and how to avoid that and flank? That's essentially how their used. The Bears are used by the military as weapons platform. You might ask why not just use robots (which they have with the ghosts) but they never crack true AI, it always has to refer back to a handler, either by bioengineering new animals or Awakening existing animals you can avoid this, animals can understand and problem solve without a handler, They can also create more of themselves naturally without need of industry which makes them more suited for early colony worlds without it. An awakened bear can effectively stay on a battlefield for years without the need for a field base, repairs, recharge or constant supervision, it can hunt and eat and heal all by itself. It makes complete sense in the universe where humanity never cracked true AI.

This started off looking like a rather run of the mill Mass Effect knock off, but then

BEAR IN SPACE ARMOUR AND TALKING FROG.

I'm intrigued.

Based on this book series.

Oh shit, I didn't realize it was shaded in Hamilton's book. It's sitting in my Kindle library waiting for me to get to it!

I will read it over the Holidays then. Either to get excited or hate on Hamilton. 😉

Wizards of the Coast is the publisher I think, so SOME kind of wokeness will be involved, but taking BG3 into account, there could be a lot of 'sexy' in the game.

First mod I'll download will be a haircut mod for the lady. I like her face but that cyberpunk goth haircut is just ... ugh.
Well, there is a bear in it already. 😉

Edit: To be fair though, WotC involvement now days is a detriment and not a plus in any way.

No baldness detected. Looks decent. On a seriousness note, MC character face does look off. Hope it's as good if not better than ME.

So this game based off a book series? Color me intrigued, as the plain white male MC was an initial turned off. We want our bald female marines

The game will need a mod or a character creator to make the lead look more like Shepard and not some plain looking dude. But hey, at least we're getting a game with a white male protagonist.

Gameplay looks fine, I wish they focused more on stuff outside of combat though.

Mister Wolf Mister Wolf Man …that Secret Level episode.

Sold me so much more on the game. I'm hoping they do a good job with the emotional weight of that constant passage of time when you play as a traveler.

As fas I can think of, Is this the only space video game that has factored in Time Dilution? Videogames and science fiction media in general all dance around it.

The game features create a character exactly like Mass Effect.

Actually, the company creating the game commissioned the novels. They talk about how excited they were that they were able to get Peter F. Hamilton on board.

IDK, the art direction and environments look extremely generic, and the gameplay looks kinda jank.
If I didn't know this has some well known names and Wizards of the coast behind it I'd almost think it was made using the unreal asset store.

I think the same, but its a pre alpha so it will eventually get better over time. We have to believe!!
