UGH! I just got an external DVD burner (Plextor PX-74OUF) for my Mac (iBook G4, 512MB RAM, 1.33mhz) and I'm having trouble getting the damn thing to work.
First, I made a movie for a school project in iDVD. I tried burning it to this external drive (which the mac recognizes; it ejects, reads DVDs, etc) using iDVD to no avail. It got to the very last step (finished recording) and just stuck there for hours, freezing my computer.
I did some google searching and found that iDVD doesn't like external burners, so I had to download a hack of sorts that lets you target the DVD burner. I also downloaded something called Patchburn, but i'm not sure what it did. Anyway, I got the same result.
So the next time I tell iDVD to save it as a disk image i can burn with disk utility. Okay, now it's been 'writing track' for upwards of three fucking hours.
I'm using sony DVD+R discs and my drive supports all formats, and it's 16X. So why the hell is it still burning 3 hours later? Disk utility isn't even frozen - should I just cancel?
