I'm looking to get an external hard drive with an ethernet jack so I can connect it to my wireless router and access it wirelessly with my iBook. Are these things cheap? I don't really know where to look. it has to work with mac and perferablly i'd like it to just be accessed by clicking an icon on my desktop/finder.

there are some commodity SAN/NAS devices out there now that are basically ethernet to IDE bridges (ok, ok, a little more than that). most of them suck, but i'm sure there's one out there that supports at least SMB and isn't horribly expensive. figure on 100-150$ more than the same capacity HDD in a brand name usb/fw drive kit. if you only have one computer though i would recommend just getting a USB/IDE bridge and hooking it to your ibook when you get home. the only reason to get one fo these little network storage devices is if you need centralized storage for populated network and none of them are on all the time
