Extreme 360 "what if"

Besides EA titles (lazy phks), every other 360 title seems to be starting to shape up. saints row isnt a jittery mess anymore, bizarre shocked everyone with their in game 3d image, i dunno if you guys have seen the newest condemed video at hdtrailers but it looks awesome, the DOA4 flyby video was solid and now the newest PDZ scans show a huge jump from wallguy and lots of potential for official shots to blow us away.

Ofcourse it isnt all about graphics but devs seem to be banging it out on that front. Now if the gameplay can match or better yet surpass the graphics, we may just have a solid launch lineup of 8+ and beyond at the worse and 10s at the best for launch window. I have yet to see a pen pen tri-icelon or a bouncer within the 36os lineup. So what does this mean? best launch ever? What if it is? Will MS be able to keep up with hardware? MS may be in a better position than anyone could have ever imagined this holiday season. Although i have zero faith in this last one, EA seems to be a wildcard. I really cant see them releasing madden as it looked in that horrendous video but if it ends up shaping up like everything else has, that would be the icing on the cake for MS.

Hm, yeah, every 360 will sell out for Christmas. Will they be able to keep up with the "good" launch? Who knows.

I hope this, uh, answers your "extreme 'what if'".

extreme because of the whole 399 fiasco along with wallguy and every other disappointment. the only thing anyone could still grasp onto for hope was pgr3 :lol i was starting to lose hope for next gen as i'm sure others were. things seem to be coming together just in time for tgs, x05 and then launch.

Even if every single launch game fucking sucked, the Xbox360 would sell out for Christmas and some time beyond.

We don't really even know if games ARE starting to come together, honestly, and Saint's Row is not a launch game.

why would it sell out anyway? it would flop harder than saturn IMO if everything ended up sucking. sony would have a field day.

Hype. And an already incredibly successful pre-order "campaign", it seems.

Remember Halo 2 hype? That's gonna be like Xbox 360 launch. Except times five.

QFT. Doubly so because logic would say that supply is going to be pretty damn tight if they plan on launching worldwide in 2005.

The system will sell out. Whether the launch titles are good is completely mutually exclusive.

For example, there isn't a single 360 game I want, but if I was in America and had the cash to blow, I'd be tempted to buy one. It's a new, impressive piece of game hardware; and for most traditional gamers, that's reason enough to buy it.

Of course, once February hits and the supply channel refills, I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't keep selling.

Amir0x, I don't normally question your logic or reasoning, but I'm curious how you got the number five.

I recall at E3 last year, hype for Halo 2 being fever-fucking-pitch. All summer long it was THE game of the fall for people who normally just play Madden. It was a big deal.

360, however, I don't know a single casual who even cares about it (if they're one of the few who know what it is), and I know many hardcore gamers completely turned off by one of the many gaffs MS has pulled. I don't think the same could have been said about Halo 2, which everyone seemed to be planning to buy in unison.

Of course, two months to go is an absolute eternity. The hype will be there and it'll almost surely sell out. Hell, I bought an iPod nano within 36 hours of its unveiling. I didn't need 5 months of excitement leading up to it. Hell, I already own an iPod.

qft. good post. but this is where the games come in then IMO. if the games do indeed come together and catch everyone off guard(wallguy to PDZ scan jump) then word of mouth and positive reviews will help the system sell well beyond february.

You'll see. After X05, the flood gates will open. And I mean, man, America will be nuclear bombed with this shit.

Yeah but what you are forgetting is that Nintendo's Revolution will not be their main console-side console. It's their cheap 'retro-machine' that they will supply with games every now and then.

Their focus is the Xbox 360 and DS. Microsoft has finally gotten them into bed.

What if it turns out that most people aren't interested in a decent but not outstanding crop of the exact same kinds of games they can get on existing systems for a fraction of the price? What if all these people who got an XBox in the last 6-18 months don't want a new system yet? What if Nintendogs becomes the "must have" game of the holiday season and takes up all the media attention? What if the Metal Gear Solid and Revolution events at the TGS capture all the excitement of the hardcore gamers?

A lot of people don't seem to really get the compounded risks that Microsoft is taking. Their console is coming out a year after the original system really started going. It's more expensive and so are the accessories. It has multiple systems with different capabilities. It has no Halo [this is the biggest risk]. It still has no top-tier Japanese franchises.

It might work out for them if the games they've got lined up really deliver and if Sony and Nintendo screw up. But the 360 is far from a lock and a years' advantage isn't the key to success.

Do you work for MS or something?

im starting to wonder as well. in the new pd0 scan thread he was incredibly impressed with a rocket flying up in the background of one pic.

by the way. Lunar.. you must have missed the memo, but the new tag line MS wants people to use is:: 'the xbox 360 is a beast" not. extreme 360..

I just found out today QFT=quoted for truth...

I always thought it stood for Quit Fucking Trolling :D

I thought the exact same thing. Recently, when someone said something positive and someone replied "QFT" I was like, "man that was harsh, I thought you guys loved one another." Now I realize they still do :lol Anyway, I'm in the Amirox camp in that I think this thing will explode come mid/late oct. I have a Jpanophile buddy who keeps predicting an early death for the 360 and I can do is laugh and remind him how his precious GC is doing in the states.
