F@$%, I got robbed last night

I was playing poker at my friend's house last night, and won $200. I wasn't driving because I was drinking a little, and smoked a bit of pot. I was walking back in a fairly quiet neighborhood at around midnight, when I got stopped by this tall (6'3") guy of Middle Eastern descent with his two buddies. The other guys were smaller, but still much bigger than me. I'm 5'11", and 150 lbs. The guy asks me if I got any money, I said no and walked away. He follows me for a little bit without me realizing it (I was a bit high at the time, and forgot about it). He's like "fucker don't disrespect me hand over your money. I turn around, stare at him and I yelled what the fuck. He fucking slaps me, and that was a huge bitch slap. I asked him what the fuck he was doing, then he punched me in the face, I'm down on the ground, and he snags my wallet from my back pocket. Before I got up, these guys took off running.

There was $350 in that wallet, and I can't even describe the guy. It was real dark, and the only description I have is that this guy had a G-Unit shirt, a heavy Arabic accent, and that his two friends were black. Now I never would have expected something like this to happen to me. I live in small city north of Toronto.

I'm so pissed right now, and I've got a bruised cheek from that piece of shit. I can't do anything about it either, I know I won't get that money back. At least there were no credit cards in my wallet, and my social security card is at home. But still, goddamn.

You bes respect.

Just last week, some gross thing in baggy, black and white camo pants grabbed and ran off with my PSP on the subway.

I was so pissed.

And to be honest, I don't think I would want it back after those hands came into contact with it.

Blech.

You have no idea how painfully infuriating it is to have something of value to you taken from you without your consent, until it happens to you.

Umm... okay?

Here's an idea, don't get drunk and high... and walk somewhere at night, don't get me wrong you do have my sympathy though, at least you were smart enough not to attempt to drive...

Yeah cause if he was sober he'd still have his money. :lol

If he was sober maybe he would have chosen a different route, maybe he would have noticed he was being followed, etc...especially after being asked out of the blue by someone he doesn't know on the street for money.

That's a warning sign if I've ever heard one.

Ok, I most certainly wasn't drunk. I drank a bit, so that's why I left the car home. I smoked some pot, but I wasn't ridiculously stoned. And it's not like he followed me for a block. I walked away, he followed me, and it must have 20 seconds after that he made his presence to me known again.

I was walking on a residential street in a college neighbourhood, not some city slums. This is the kind of shit you don't expect in a city like Barrie, ON.

Yes because people only get robbed in slums....

You didn't think it was strange that a guy standing with two other guys asked you for money?

I'm not beating you up on this, I'm just trying to get you to revisit your thought processes on what goes on around you... and perhaps update them.

Of course I thought it was strange. I can't think of anything that would have resulted in me not losing the money. I could have fought back, but maybe I would have died then.

there was something that happened before you got slapped...

Some suggestions?

Cross the street;
Act like you arrived at your destination(i.e. head up to the door).

No one is suggesting you actually engage the folks... on a whole I'd lean towards ignoring a group of folks where one asks for money as for one person by themself possibly looking destitute asking for it.

I know, it just came out.

you think maybe they knew you had those poker winnings on you? maybe they were 'tipped off'?

heh im just paranoid I think. people are shady though, even your friends sometimes, this i know.

Now that, there, is a big, fucking gun.

you were drunk and high, walking down an empty street at night by yourself? easy target.
Yeah. I mean... Drunk... ok, but high as well? Holy shit. Anyways.

I wonder how scared I woulda been if I was in the middle of the night, all alone, approached by three tall guys... hmmm... yeah...

I would probably beat the shit out of all three.

My wife was mugged by a guy and then stabbed twice by him with a big fucking hunting knife in one of the more "High Class" areas of my city, two blocks away from the Governors mansion. Although not expected, stuff can happen anywhere.

Hiring 3 goons for 200$ of poker money isnt exactly cost effective

Well a few things to run this line of thinking down...

#1. He had $350 in his pocket, so they could have been been advised that he had more the $200 he won on him.
#2. Some goons work cheap.

No, I think yelling WTF is what he was referring to. My friends did not hire three guys to take my money, that's ridiculous.

Unfortunately no matter where you are there are those who will prey on the weak. Best thing to do in any situation such as that is RUN and run like hell. Chances are by the time you tire out you will find a safer place and chances are fear will make you faster than they.

Why are people criticizing this guy and making fun of him? Fucking assholes. Don't kid yourself, you can get robbed anywhere. Doesn't matter if you take a safe route. Doesn't matter if your sober. Scumbags know that people with money are in safer neighborhoods. I don't see how him being intoxicated would have changed the outcome. It's not like they were going to leave him alone after he told them he didn't have any money. I swear, sometimes it seems like most of you have no real world experience. But here's a good tip- next time just give them the money, especially if your alone. Because these days people will kill you even if they get what they want from you, so its best to try and not piss them off, okay?

If you had just given me the wallet in the first place, I wouldn't have had to bitch slap you. Sorry man, no hard feelings.

Kudos on apparently only reading like half the thread.

Not like it matters, I saw people making fun of his situation and criticizing him and I commented on it. I said what I had to say and thats that.

She's much better now, this happened a few years ago. Although, when the guy stabbed her in the side, he nicked her diaphragm which the doctors didn't notice when stitching up the stab wounds and her lung which was also hit.

I guess since it's always moving and stretching, it never quite completely healed. A couple years later when she was giving birth to our daughter, while pushing the baby out it tore a hole in the diaphragm which sucked up half of her stomach and over the course of a day killed that half of the stomach. The doctors in the hospital didn't believe that my wife was in extreme pain, chalking it up to after pregnancy pains and anxienty, even trying to give her some sort of anxiety medication. Finally they did some proper tests and did emergency surgery to fix the damage. Any longer and it would have been a lot worse. :(

Wow. That must have been very stressful for you. Where do you live?

So, like a couple minutes my friends came up to me and said that they had found $350 in a small city north of toronto. What should I do?

Goodness I hate it when losers keep using the same lame old jokes.

$350 dollars? If I were you, I'll just say forget it, and move on. If you still remember the guys, try the police..and next time don't go walking alone so late.
