I am interested in buying this, but before I do that, I was just wondering when F1 2017 is due to come out?
Definitely not before the summer break. The last Codemasters F1 games ranged from July to October.
The July should be ignored - as it was pretty much an interim/stopgap release. October/November should be the normal date.

I still enjoy playing it in chunks. A training session and qualifying here, a race there, and now that mid-session saves aren't bugging out the tyre wear anymore that's a fine option too.I went years deep in the career mode until I got bored and played other stuff, but 2017 won't be out until the fall. I'll most likely pick it back up.

After raging about the pad controls in my first hour I'm now loving them almost 100 hours later.
I'm actually worried about what Codemasters will do to the career mode to make it "different" from 2016, in the past they often went a step back for every step forward...
They will not allow drivers to drive under different teams. I just don't see it happening.I really really wish we could have a career mode where the drivers moved around and new drivers came through. The F1 license is probably way too strict to allow anything like that thought
Well they must have been working on it for months and the new cars didn't even exist until 2-3 weeks ago, so they must have been doing SOMEthing other than scanning faces. It's not like the tracks really changed either.Hopefully the new regs mean Codemasters won't have time to mess around with the stuff that works,
Hopefully they sort out online and get rid of the bugs from that.
R&D was fine for me, they could make upgrades cost more to take longer though.
I'd say that's probably a licensing thing. Maybe with Liberty at the helm it could be done, but I reckon they'd wind up getting less sales in total if they did the EA/DR thing rather than just one full-fledged release towards the end of the season.I wish they would take the Dirt Rally approach and give us the game early but with only half the content, then patch it in as development (and the F1 season) progresses on.
Nope we'll get another title in october cookie cut like the rest.
That's the core of what makes F1 2016 such an enjoyable experience. The balancing act between skill and race strategy feels right for the first time in the series. Maybe you've pushed too hard on a set of ultra-soft tires at the start of the race. Do you move to a strategy that incorporates an extra pit stop? Or do you attempt to wrestle the slippery tires around the track for a few laps? These are the decisions you have to make in F1 2016 while simultaneously trying to hit each apex, manage fuel, and steer clear of your competitors.
If you do collide on the track, crashes are more spectacular than ever. Suspension arms buckle as you shunt a wall at high speed, and shards of carbon fiber shoot up like confetti when your front wing clips another car. The replay system allows you to rewind time if you miss a corner and careen into a competitor, but you should get used to avoiding crashes. Big crashes are followed by a safety car that drives ahead of the pack, slowing it down, while the brand-new virtual safety car requires you to limit your own speed through areas of the track where stricken cars are being recovered. F1 2016 reflects the "anything can happen" reality of F1 racing. All of this combines to create an exciting experience where each lap around the track feels critical.
As someone who hasn't played an F1 game in over 10 years and hasn't really played any sim racing games ever I'd say it's pretty easy to get into. When I started I had these assists that helped a lot:Thinking of getting this in the current PSN sale. I've never played an F1 game before, never watched a race, know nothing about the sport, and haven't played a sim-y racing game since PS2-era Gran Turismo. Will there be too much of a brick wall/learning curve for a complete newcomer?
I don't usually like sim racers, but there's just something really appealing about this from what I've seen, that keeps drawing my eye. The sheer sense of speed and aggressive vibe of the racing, the strategic aspect of needing to consider track and tires and pit stops, the immersive presentation and putting you control of all major aspects from start to off track.
So I finished the career mode in F1 a few weeks ago. I am thinking about jumping back into the game once I have finished Dirt 4. I seem to remember there was some kind of Pro Career mode. What is it, and how is it different from the regular career mode?
Max difficulty, no assists, no HUD, 100% length, everything set to hardest basically.
Kind of masochistic if you ask me.
Just got this game a few weeks ago, a bit late I know but man it's a lot of fun. Haven't played since F1 2010. What's really bugging me though is that I can get great laptimes around most of the circuits but practice and qualifying laptimes in Australia are horrible. I'm getting like 1:34 on average and it's supposed to be the easiest stage.
Man i just got it a week ago or so and I'm out here on 1:38 or something... So don't feel too bad lol... There is something wrong with my Renault or it is just slow or i really suck. Probably a combo of the 3. Have yet to actually complete a full race weekend as I keep re starting. Hopefully actually get the time to finish one this weekend.
Awesome game after getting the controller settings from here, so glad F1 is decent again..

The curious thing about R&D in career is that it's clearly broken for longer careers... but few people actually are affected by this. My career rank on PC is 3000 something after 3 or so seasons (about 100 hours), so the amount of players who are even affected by this is really small (but vocal)
For Monaco I might as well just preemptively DNF it. Impossible with a controller for me.There are definitely some tracks that tend to be easier than others. Australia was pretty tricky to start with.
I've been doing 100% races and I definitely run into some spots where difficulty spikes but some of that is down to control settings I am thinking. For instance, got my way to Mexico and Sector 2 just feels incredibly tricky with whatever steering deadzones or sensitivity I have.
100% is just really, really long and a season takes forever to complete.50% is exhausting enough as it is. Can't imagine 100%. I do feel like the longer race distances make the strategy part a lot more fun. Also more chance of rain changing the race.
Doesn't it tell you after every weekend? Right when it lists your career points...Hold up, hold up.
Career rankings?
How do I find this info

I dunno, I feel like with a tiny joystick I just can't be consistently precise enough which basically means a DNF at Monaco's high speed corners. Corners 12 through 15 are a nightmare.Unless you get pole or P2, you should be fine. Other than that it's just a mess haha

What kind of settings are you using? It's difficult around the casino corners but I've managed to adjust my steering to become smooth enough on a controller stick to enjoy Monaco, tight as it is.
I use medium traction control and dabbled around with it off, but it's very hard to get a good feeling of when you start going full throttle again. Like with the joysticks I feel like there's just not enough precision to really pull it off very well. With a steering wheel and pedals you can be a lot more precise.Does anyone here manage to play without traction control using a controller? I feel like the triggers on my steam controller aren't sensitive enough, or maybe I just haven't practiced enough with it.

That's pretty much how I feel. I enjoy medium the most, but I do wish I could do a quick donut to turn around sometimes. It is possible to pull off, but honestly, I don't feel that it's enjoyable as there's just not enough feedback. You could be over conservative to compensate but at that point it's detrimental to the laptimes.
I'll accept a little traction control with increased tyre wear, for some fun and better laptimes.
