F1 25 Path Tracing update early access

I dunno g, if only there was some kind of watermark on the picture with the source.

Because it uses an AI heuristic to accumulate the samples rather than a hardcoded algorithm like FSR2 etc? Just like any other AI temporal upscaler like DLSS/FSR4/XeSS.
How upscaling the IQ with the previous frame can be considered the same thing of on AI neural network reconstruction. It's like to say screen space reflections is raytracing reflection. Seems an oversemplification. Though I have to admit I never thought such upscalers were considered simple TAAU, my fault.

What are the chances in 2028 of a PS6 running F1 at 1900p, 60fps with path tracing?

Would that be feasible by then, or are we looking at PS6 Pro or even PS7?

For me this kind of lighting is a next-gen leap

If they didn't release a $60 update every year i would probably have purchased the game day one.
Will probably get it on a 80% sale in a year because of that.
EA sport games have expiration date so there is no way for me to dip 60 on that kind of product.

What happens on the expiration date?

If the PS6 can offer comparable performance to the RTX 5080 in path tracing, it should be able to run PT games at over 60 fps with 4K-quality image using FSR 4's performance/balance mode. With the FSR FG on top of that, 120 fps should also be a viable option.

PSSR it's not based on temporal accumulation. And again you oversemplify a lot of concepts.
It is based on temporal accumulation, just like every other current gen AI assisted upscaler (the newest Metal FX I'm not sure but I would be surprised if it's anything else).
I'm not oversimplifying anything.

The cost is bigger on every GPU, not just on older GPUs.
Just on older GPUs as has been shown by a number of benchmarks already.
There are reasons related to which data format which generation of tensor cores may handle as well as overall memory subsystem efficiency.

Fully fledged AI upscaling will be as common as anti aliasing soon enough, seen as nothing but quaint. It's the next iteration that will be interesting, real-time AI enhanced visuals in all manner of areas - lighting, models, animations, interactions.
I wouldn't expect next gen consoles to be able to do anything more than FSR4 really.
It will probably be similar to how RT in consoles are evolving from basic support (PS5/XS) to a good support (PS5Pro) into proper support (next gen).
Next gen consoles will likely get basic or good support for ML stuff and to handle advanced things like neural rendering or even some advanced upscaling like DLSS RR we'll have to wait for "Pro" versions or the gen after that.

I agree with Seb and F1 is a good example.

Games that use PT or RT are not always reverting to past rasterisation techniques if RT or PT isn't used.

Look at AC Shadows that does not use baked lighting, it looks terrible versus RT. It didn't look that bad before in previous AC titles.
