Microsoft spinning Fable for the PC

PC version of Molyneux's epic choose-your-adventure will get new content; Fable: The Lost Chapters will be available this fall

Lionhead frontman Peter Molyneux and Microsoft Game Studios are doing their best Aesop impressions for PC gamers. Microsoft today announced that the popular Xbox title Fable is headed for the PC this fall, under the name Fable: The Lost Chapters. The much-hyped title was released on Microsoft's console last September and was developed by Big Blue Box, which is owned by Black & White developer Lionhead Studios.

As indicated by the title, the PC version will feature additional content not found on its console counterpart. There will be additional quests to undertake, new regions to explore, and a deeper storyline. Gamers will also be able to use new armor and weapons, cast new spells, and slay new creatures.

FABLE AM COMING TO PC TOTAL ROSEBUD

So the rumored Xbox expansion becomes the PC version!

I didn't dislike Fable. I didn't finish it on Xbox either. It was an OK game. A little light though. If some meaty improvements have been made for the PC version I'll pick it up.

Sounds good to me.. I really liked Fable quite a bit but couldnt help but be disappointed at its length and whatnot. I'll definitely check this out.

I fucking loved Fable, and this news breaks my heart. If there's no downloadable content, i might have to miss out on this. I just cant play anything thats not FPS on PCs.

Fuck!!!

Anyway, more sales for Molenuex, so i guess theres some good coming out of it. Dont think he's satisfied with Fable topping 1 million in US

Well since it's going to PC they should upspec the visuals a bit. Make it look like the original concepts (running on 128MB Xbox dev systems).

Fable (xbox) felt to me like half of a good game. I hope they make this content available in a OXM disk or as a XBL download.

Lame, Fable has a perfect console control scheme, i dont see it working as well on pc.

This sucks, i would have bought it again for Xbox.

wierd.

I honestly thought Fable should've just been a PC game from the start. The PC's the only platform that really could've supported all of those features that couldn't make it into the Xbox version.

Hmm. I always wanted Fable to be a cross between Zelda and Morrowind, and, over the years, as I saw features get stripped away, I knew it wasn't going to happen.

I somehow doubt this extra content will un-suckify the game, but if it does, I may pick it up.

For like 2 years, the concept of Fable was going to sell me an Xbox. This might be a chance for the game to redeem itself.

Peter Molyneux just finished up his Fable postmortem at GDC. He said some stuff about Fable for PC.

The game is going to greatly flesh out Fable -- including stuff that was cut for the Xbox version. He said there will be stuff like the old city (Necropolis?) -- basically a never-before-seen continent -- a huge dragon to fight, and stuff like the iron ship in Hook Coast.

I had a love-hate relationship with this game. Loved it the first time through. Hated it when I realized how short it was. Also hated it for the load times. And now I think I'm ready to give it another go, except this time I'll wait for the improved PC version.

Wish I had waited... I'm not going to buy Fable again though. Pretty lame IMO.

It is kind of annoying how all of Xbox's 'best' games are on PC, or soon will be. And the PC versions are usually the better ones.

The whole "no downloadable content" thing for Xbox is bullshit. I wanted to fight that dragon, dammit. Now I have to buy the game all over again to do it. Weaksauce.

Ah well.... roll on Fable 2.

Should be everything they wanted Fable to be, now that they have some experience with console games. MS better be throwing Unreal3 engine Molenuexs way

Unfortunatly i expect it to be released during Xbox 360s secnod year :(

Well if the Fable team has been working on Fable 1.5 PC ever since Fable XBOX was released, then unfortunately they probably haven't even started on Fable 360 yet.

Good. More content, less loading, larger areas, and much better video would do so much for the game.

Why? Don't you like having more choices? I liked Fable very much, and it's good news that PC players can enjoy it too.

And the PC versions are usually the better ones.
I'd be surprised of the contrary: PCs are constantly evolving, it's obvious that they can deliver better games than a 4-years old console. It's always been this way, why so surprised?

Moreover, I'd like to suggest one thing: I was sure that Fable would have been made for the PC, 'cause this is the same way MS did with Halo to try to hype new users into Halo 2. Every PC-only gamer that will like it, could consider buying Xbox 360 when Fable 2 will come on it ;-)

I repost this from my friend's blog.

So hows about all those people who bought an x-box to play Fable, only to be severely dissapointed by its lack of content? Peter Molyneux poses a question. Do you like apples?

It was invevitable Mr. Anderson, but wait! The con job will now come full circle!

And here is the insult to injury. A kick to the groin for good measure.
Fable: The Lost Chapters will retail for $49.99 when it hits shelves this fall, and it's currently awaiting a rating.
"How bout them apples?"

Fuck you Peter Molyneux. After three years of bullshit and 49$ for a 1/4 of the content delivered on the heavy black box, PC Fable should not only be free, it should come with a personal blowjob & ballwash. Performed by you personally. Again, fuck you, and I hope Fable PC is [ed: verb involving people who rape and pillage] into bittorrent oblivion.

This man speaks the truth.

lol

Do you think they will release a "Directors Cut" version of Fable on Xbox?

Id hit it! on release day too

Do any of you actually remember what these 'cut features' are that you want so much?

Other than less loading i cant think of any.

For one thing, actually marrying women. That whole "I love you but you're still a man" thing really got to me.

This is most excellent news. I loved Fable and it looks even better on the PC. Hopefully now they will include all the dragon island stuff that was cut out of the xbox version.
