Fabula Nova Crystallis official site opens

The way they meticulously modeled/textured all the damn seams on his coat is just crazy. It's like what Polyphony does with cars, perhaps even more insane.

Fabula Nova Crystallis is a horrible name and makes me want to punch my brain.

This game, however, is pretty and makes me want to shit rainbows.

I like the name. But if you want to punch your brains please do.

Seriosuly this talk about how final fantasy men don't look like you typical over testeronized western character design has to stop.

Its in every FF thread that ever pops up.

This is the first time I've noticed he has a beard. Hopefully it shows in the real-time stuff.

AGREED. I wonder how these people who complain about this would do if they visit Asian and European countries.

Shows what the fuck you know. Nouns in Latin decline, crystallum is neuter, and crystallis is the genitive form.
Technically, the genitivus is crystalli and crystallis is the dativus/ablativus plural. I guess SquareEnix thought crystallis sounded cooler.

She always looked like a Final Fantasy male, which admittedly isn't very manly.

Eh, this is ff...I don't have a problem with this. Anyway, the blonde haired guy is pretty buff...most guys in the real world aren't particularly manly as you put it...people like to act macho though haha...I can dp 50 slow one armed push ups and planche push ups and all that rubbish and am hetero...and yet I don't mind playing pretty boys and girls in ff...the game is idealized...this is ff... I like the flash

LOL!

I don't have a problem with it either. I was just screwing around, not complaining. But I now know such things are intolerable and not to be repeated.

Back on topic, I am starting to get excited for XIII, which I hadn't done when it felt so far away. Amazing what a site portal full of pretty pictures can do for your hype levels.

Uh that's CG, and I've seen similiar texturing in real-time graphics. :P

MGS4 and crysis... although that modelling is far superior to either in motion
i don't actually understand what you're saying here

Of course it's CG, I was commenting on the excellent craftsmanship that went into the model.
I follow 3D graphics very closely and I've never seen anything similar in real-time graphics. But perhaps our definition on "similar" is different :P

does Noctis' sword have an engine on it? :lol
Looks that way. And I'm sure I have seen a very similar design elsewhere a few years ago - I just can't remember where that was...

the texture detail on some of the models is as detailed as what he is pointing out, but, of course, the cg here looks far more impressive than either in motion...

Every now and then I'll see a picture from this game and think of Panzer Dragoon a little.

And then I think of Square Enix doing a PD game.

And then I think of Dragon-Dragoon.

And then I cry.

This'll be the first Final Fantasy I play through since X!

How are people accessing the second BGM on the website?
Waiting for the first to finish?
The music is fantastic! I can't wait to get my Final Fantasy fix this gen. Now if only Atlus would make the jump to the 360/PS3 with the Megaten series.

I would like to be so enthusiastic about the music...

Doesn't the action theme look a lot Sakimotoish ? I don't know, the two pieces seem rather classic and not really hamauzu like.

I hope he don't drop the ball, or his style to make something more ordinary.

If by functional, you mean excessive, then yeah.

But I actually don't mind the design, it's part of the charm (although I would like a grittier take on a FF one day).

I feel sorry for the poor characters though, getting dressed must take a hell of a long time, and that big heavy coat can't be easy to move around in.
While they do wear quite a few layers, I think the zippers aren't excessively placed. I mean, its not like they're wearing dresses made of belts :/

Also, wasn't FF7 already a gritty take on FF? I remember hearing people saying there was a backlash from the FF hardcore back when Midgar was the only thing that was shown. Not to mention, the second half of FF6 is pretty gritty too.
