Yes indeed I think it is time for another on of these threads that showcases and discusses a particular talent, in this case it is Larry Bundy Jr and his latest series Fact Hunt.

I really enjoy Fact Hunt especially since I don't think he's brought up anything I actually knew about. The gaming scandals episode being the most interesting to me. Larry also has a nice voice.

The best thing about Guru Larry is that he talks about systems that the majority of Youtube wouldn't touch because, at the time, the US was going through an apparent video game crash, which never affected anywhere else.

I loved him since his ScrewAttack days. Finally glad he found a series that he won't abandon after a few episodes.

He's got a bit of a hateon for Mollenuex, though. (Or maybe it's just a running gag, IDK)

This seems to be the reason why the more interesting gaming history books are from the UK, because all the US ones want to focus on Atari, then the game crash, then Nintendo bringing gaming back.

This is a really interesting series, slowly trying to watch all that I can while grinding in Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

He brings up a lot of stuff I'm already familiar with but most of the stuff I'm not familiar with is due to me being an American. As a result there's a lot more that's new to me in his videos.

Really good stuff though, I've been following him for ages and his stuff has been constantly good. I think I started following him right after he split with ScrewAttack Europe.

This guy's videos are great. Very well researched, and they give an interesting perspective on stuff since he's from Europe and I'm used to hearing about the American perspective. Here in the US, as we all know, gaming crashed in the early '80s, then it was all about the NES, then it was a big war between the SNES and Genesis. Everything else was basically irrelevant. But he talks about systems like the Commodore 64 and whatnot, and brings up games I've never even heard of and says, "This was super popular and everyone had it!"

Well to be fair the C64 was popular in the US, I grew up with one. In general my experiences are similar with him talking about Amstrad Sinclair computers and such.

The differences in what games are popular too. I had no idea the New Zealand Story was a notable game but I guess in Europe it was obscenely popular.

Oh man that Driv3r story is something else. While I wasn't interested in the series at the time I do remember the absolute deluge of advertising for the third game. Watching the buried gaming controversies video clears up what happened and really puts into perspective the incestuousness nature of game press and publishers.

Is he still doing that "Games Yanks Can't Wank" series? I remember that being pretty fun years ago.

He's got a bit of a hateon for Mollenuex, though. (Or maybe it's just a running gag, IDK)
Unless we're talking like, stalker-levels of obsession with the man, he's not exactly alone on that front given the last few dramas surrounding Mollenuex.

Yeah his new series is great his only weak video was the stupid press comment things which wasn't terrible but there are mostly better examples then the ones he gave.

His videos are some of the rare times in which the top whatever format actually have information I've never heard before. They are pretty well researched too, he makes good stuff.

No "5 Purposely Broken, Unbeatable Games By Dickish Developers" or "Top 5 Offensive Cheat Codes" (goddammit, Team17)?

And yeah, I was rather suspicious of his videos being any good ("ehh... another top X vids? Whatever"), but I saw him commenting (actually commenting, not spamming) on LGR's videos (and later on Kim Justice's) and the two talking on Twitter and for some reason I gave him a chance. Definitely didn't regret it - although kinda sad that I was ready to ignore him because of all the shitty TopX videos that made me not expect anything of quality.

Yeah I had never heard of any of that, kind of shocking they covered it up so well on the internet of all places.

I don't recall one of those videos in a while but that does mean he's nessesarily done with them. As far as Peter goes Larry just takes potshots at him once in a while. Nothing crazy and he at least acknowledges he knows what he's talking about by only taking him to task for his newer output.

I remember arguing with him in YouTube comments because his "facts" were plain wrong. I'll get my gaming information from someone else.

He's really good at producing well-researched original material as opposed to just parroting Wikipedia entries which is what most similar outlets do. Case in point: The Driv3r part in the scandals video. Atari did a thorough job of burying the history of that whole debacle. I'm amazed at how that PR firm so unabashedly described their services as "infiltrating message boards with guerilla tactics" back in those days. You'd never get away with that today and have to resort to extremly coded language to describe what kind of astrotuf shenanigans you're up to.

Why does his accent sound so fake to me @_@

Why does every British online personality get accused of faking their accent without fail?

Hey this is only the first British Youtuber to make me think that. Kim Justice and TotalBiscuit sound as British as British could be.

Yep, love this series. I've said it before but it's almost a Retro Jimquisition

Interesting show about an era of gaming I mostly missed.

Watched an episode about game cover-ups.. but because the episode title is gamergates the related videos is misogynistic nonsense. He really should have used another name!

The Driv3rGate Scandal: The Full Story (DriverGate) | Fact Hunt Special

Published on Jul 9, 2016

A very special Fact Hunt this week, We had so many people say they enjoyed the Driv3rGate segment from the 3 Gaming Scandals that were buried episode of Fact Hunt, we decided to go back and re-add a lot of the original deleted content, as well as all the new research we discovered from people involved in the scandal since making the video.

I've followed this guy's work for years when he was first part of TGWTG team and lost him from sight when that site became absolute garbage just for him to pop up on my YT recommendations list. Subbed immediately. Fact hunt is absolutely great!

Interesting to note for Jurassic Park, there was a similar, though with much less profanity, message in the AGA version, where the one mentioned in the video was from the ECS version.

RAB. CRACK THIS GAME AND YOU DIE!!!!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING!!
I KNOW WHO YOU ALL ARE!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

I was kind of impressed by that Metroid passcode. What is going on with the 3DS Virtual Console? Is that "passcode" so effective that it crashes the NES emulator and then bricks the handheld?
